If there is one thing that I love about being cruelty free, it’s finding out all about new brands that don’t test on our favourite furry animals. Hempz Beauty* is a rather new one to me however over the past couple of weeks, they have became a staple in my skincare routine. I love how they are packaged, I definitely love the scent that comes from opening the products and well I can’t wait to get my mitts on some more of their products.
Hempz Beauty is a range of skincare and haircare products that is made from 100% organic Hemp Seed Oil. Now if you are anything like me then you probably don’t know what this is. It’s an oil rich in Vitamin E, C, B1, B2, B3 and B6 or in simple terms all the good stuff that is ideal for maintaining healthy skin and hair. Their products are also paraben, gluten, thc-drug free and aren’t tested on animals.
At first I was a little bit apprehensive to try the Sweet Pineapple And Honey Melon Bath & Body Oil. Don’t get me wrong, the scent sounds amazing! But as the skincare newbie I am, I didn’t know how you could use an oil in the bath as well as a moisturiser?! Firstly this stuff smells delicious! I honestly feel as though I have just stepped onto a Caribbean beach when I’ve applied this all over my body. The best thing is that a little goes a long way, probably because it’s an oil. It leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished but isn’t sticky and you aren’t waiting forever for it to dry either. There’s nothing worse than waiting around in your underwear hoping that the moisturiser/oil you’ve applied dries before you start looking like a prune because of the colder weather.
I was also sent the Ultra Moisturising Herbal Lip Balm. Now I have tried many lip balms over the years and I can usually tell after the first couple of usages whether I will re-purchase or not. This one has already been added into my bag as well as buying another tube to keep on my bedside table. I can’t go a day without applying it at least once on my lips. During the winter months, my lips are so dry and cracked due to the cold weather but this has been a saviour. Not only has it saved my lips from looking terribly cracked and dry but it also smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! As well as leaving my lips feeling soft and hydrated but it also conditions and revitalises dry lips – perfect for any time of year, I reckon.
Have you tried Hempz Beauty before? What’s your favourite product?

I have been eyeing up The Pip Box ever since I came across the brand over on Twitter so when they asked if I would like to review one of their boxes I basically jumped for joy! The Pip Box is a monthly subscription box promoting cruelty free beauty brands. It was named after the founder’s dog Pippa which I think is such a cute idea. I spent the whole of January avoiding any spoilers but now that I’ve been given the chance to try all the products, I thought it’s about time that I talk about my thoughts on the box.
Medusa Witch Lash Mascara, Black Noir – It’s extremely rare that I come across a cruelty free friendly mascara and immediately love it until now. I don’t know about anyone else but as soon as I am gifted a mascara, I’m usually opening it and finding out the deal with the wand. It’s one that reminds me off Urban Decay’s Prevision Mascara, however, this one is brilliant for those working on a budget. It’s super black and makes my eyelashes look ten times longer than they actually are. If you are wanting to know what I’ve been using this past month then it’s more than likely been this.
Optiat Coffee Scrub, The Hungover – I’m probably the only ‘beauty’ blogger that hasn’t tried a coffee scrub but I’ve heard good things. I usually reach for Lush’s Rub Rub Rub Body Scrub if I ever need to exfoliate my skin so this has been a refreshing change. I love using it in the mornings once a week as it makes me feel a lot more prepared for the day. After moisturising my skin, that’s when I tend to notice a difference. In all honesty, I think I do need to keep trying the product to decide whether I love it or not though.
Balm Balm Face Mask, Hibiscus – This is one of the two brands that I’ve heard of before so I was really excited to give this a try. I managed to get a friend involved to have a face mask night and seen as it is in powder form it’s extremely different to my usual face mask. To use, you mix it with little water and leave on your face for 10 minutes. It left both of our skins feeling super soft and nourished. It also smells amazing!
Lucky Cloud Skincare Lip Butter, Vanilla – Anyone who knows me will understand that I love a good lip butter but I am usually quite specific when it comes to the brand. I’m usually the one stocked up with The Body Shop’s Shea Lip Butter but if you are looking for another alternative then I highly recommend this. I love how thin and small the packaging is so it’s been super easy to just put in my pockets and have it around while I’m at work. The scent is on another level and I usually get away with wearing this without any lipstick because it’s so intense.
Green Frog Botanic Body Wash, Rose & Neroli – I’ve been wanting to try Green Frog products for such a long time now so you can imagine how excited I was to find this body wash hidden within the box. The scent smells so fresh and quite Autumnal. It’s made from natural organic Himalayan soapberries that helps treat dry skin conditions such as eczema. Lucky enough, my eczema hasn’t been too bad recently, however, I have noticed that my skin feels a lot more nourished after I used this in the shower.
Overall, I am in love with The Pip Box and I’ve actually subscribed to start receiving them every month. You can subscribe to the box here. One of things that I love about this beauty box is that 50p of every sale is donated to the Animal Free Research UK charity. I think it’s definitely worth the price as you are able to try and test out cruelty free brands and receive a couple of discounts if you really enjoy their products.
Have you ever tried The Pip Box? What’s your thoughts on these products? I would love to know!

You may have noticed that I talk about the same products over and over again from more or less the same brands. I don’t tend to change my makeup all that much perhaps because I got into a routine of using products that I love. I really wanted to start branching out more and try a couple of brands further instead of sticking to the same foundation or blusher all the time. I’ve chosen four brands that I want to discover more from this year and if I don’t succeed you have the right to tell me off.
ELF
Elf is one of those brands that I hear many bloggers talk about but it hasn’t really become available to me until I moved to Shrewsbury. I don’t tend to order things online incase it’s not my shade and prefer to actually feel things and test them out on the back of my hand before I commit to purchasing them. I found Elf in a local Superdrug store and purchased a couple of bits. I’m not fond of the mascara, however, I love the foundation especially when I have a long shift at work. The coverage is just amazing and the formulation is great for those who have oily skin. I would love to try some more of their lip products and I’ve heard great things about their eyeshadows and blushes too.
NYX
Again, another brand that most people within the blogosphere community love but I haven’t tried much from. I’ve heard their concealers are excellent which is why I have featured them in the list. As you may know if you follow me on social media, I have recently re-kindled my love for their lipstick in the shade Doll. It’s become my go-to lipstick for everyday wear now especially since the weather has been a lot colder. The formulation is super moisturising. I find it a bit overwhelming going up to one of their stands because there is just so much choice! Any recommendations would be super helpful?
B. Cosmetics
I practically squealed with excitement when I seen all of the new B. makeup range in my local Superdrug store. I wrote about my love of their foundation about two years ago now and been longing for their new range to be released for months. I actually picked up their flawless matte foundation the other week and I’ve been using it ever since so if you fancy a bit of a review then just let me know. I really want to try out a couple more of their lipstick shades and the blushes look absolutely stunning!
Too Faced
Okay, so Too Faced is a little bit more expensive than the others that I’ve mentioned but it is one that a lust over every new release. I’ve only ever had the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow palette but still to this day it is one of my all time favourites in my collection. I really want to try the Born This Way foundation and Better Than Sex mascara because I’ve heard so many good things about both. I’m probably going to save this one for my birthday and Christmas lists or do some hardcore saving!
Is there any brands that you want to discover more from? Let me know of any recommendations!

2017 has been a bit of a weird year for me in terms of beauty and makeup products. It has been a year that started with one of the largest collection of bath bombs, lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes to that collection being narrowed down to a selection of products I use regularly, most of which is on a budget but products that I still love. I thought that I would share with you seven of my favourites…
I can’t write this post without mentioning Makeup Revolution’s Soph X Eyeshadow Palette. It’s been one of my favourites ever since it hit the shelves in September. You may have read my blog post about the palette here. I’m slowly going through all the shades and four months later I’m still using it most days of the week.
I actually have two lip products in my overall favourites of the year. The first is NYX Lip Smacking Lipstick in the shade Doll. There’s just something about the formulation that I love. I’m surprisingly onto my next tube because I loved it so much. It’s a colour that you can wear during the day but also gloss it up for evening occasions. The next is Barry M Cor Balmy! in the shade Jam Jar. I’ve kinda rediscovered my love for this after a huge makeup clear out. I didn’t remember how moisturising they were until the weather started getting colder and then it has just been my go-to lip balm for weeks. I like how the colour is just a slight tint on the lips for days where you don’t really want a full on colour.
If you’ve followed my blog for a while then you will be able to guess the next one. GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation has been my go-to for the longest time. I’ve featured it in so many blog posts and that’s because it is the foundation that just works best for me. I have tried so many drugstore cruelty free foundations but this one has come out tops every single time. The coverage is medium – full, it applies nicely onto the skin and leaves you with a lovely glow. My normal shade is Sand but I tend to go up to the next shade in the Summer months.
I’ve had quite a couple of skincare favourites last year. The first has been Superdrug’s Pink Grapefruit Tea Tree Face Wash. Honestly, my first opinion was quite undecided but after I started using the product I soon found that I was relying on it to give me good skin. Nowadays, I can’t imagine my shower without a tube of the face wash. I mainly use it around ‘that time of the month’ to clear breakouts but it’s so refreshing in the mornings when you’re feeling tired.
Another skincare favourite has been the B. Micellar Water. I don’t know about you but the last thing that I want to do when I’m all snuggled in bed catching up on blogs is to get out of bed and use a five step bedtime routine to take off my makeup so this little bottle of water has been my saviour. I always keep a bottle laying close to my bed with a packet of cotton wool pads on those lazy evenings. You’ll be surprised that it works wonders. In blogosphere terms, I think it’s better than the leading competitor Garnier’s Micellar Water but of course that’s just preference. Did I mention that it is also cruelty free and suitable for vegans?
Lastly on the skincare front is a new perfume that I fell in love with. It’s called What Would Love Do? and was released by Lush in August/September. The main scent is lavender with a blend of tangerine oil. It is such a lovely and calming scent that leaves many people asking what I am wearing.
What’s your favourite products from 2017? Is there anything I should keep my eyes peeled out for?

I used to be one of those people who brought all the YouTubers books even if I didn’t really watch them but then YouTubers started bringing out other things including clothes, phone cases, skincare and makeup. That’s when things got confusing. I lusted over the Zoella Beauty items and always found the Tanya Burr makeup range intriguing but I’m still confused on the cruelty free status of both. This all changed when I found out that Soph has collaborated with Makeup Revolution, possibly one of my favourite cruelty free brands that is also so affordable.
Without even reading the current reviews, I knew I wanted to pick up both the eyeshadow and the highlighter palette so I can give them a go myself. I don’t actually watch her videos very often but I’m intrigued with the vibes she has gone for. At first, I wasn’t sure what to think and now I find myself reaching for this one over any others in my palette collection and these are the reasons why.
Firstly, the rose gold lettering and nude packaging is Instagram friendly, the palette has 24 shades which are generous in size and suitable for any time of year, it also has a massive mirror which is perfect for doing your makeup on the go. Thanks Soph. I appreciate you for creating such an amazing palette. You don’t get a brush but I’ve been using a mix of my Real Techniques brushes to apply the shades.
There’s a lovely mix a shimmer and matte shades as well as a range of darker and lighter shades. Did I mention how cute the names are? My particular favourites are: Copper Coin, Pumpkin, Tiramisu, Iced Coffee and Pancakes however I do see myself using all the shades. The shades are all really pigmented similarly to the Urban Decay Naked palettes although that’s a personal opinion.
So, is it worth a tenner? Personally, yes! If your looking for an affordable palette that you can use all year round with pretty good pigmentation then I would highly recommend treating yourself to the Makeup Revolution Soph X palette.
Have you got this palette? What’s your thoughts?

With the Winter months right around the corner, I thought it was about time to share my favourite reds. Now those who know me well or have read my blog for a while will already understand my love/hate relationship with a red lipstick. I usually go for risk-free nudes or pinky shades but over the past year there are a couple that I have fell in love with.
The first long term favourite of mine is the Lush Lipstick in the shadePower. The warm toned, moisturising formula is not only perfect for this time of year but is a lovely all year round shade. It is a nice subtle red which I think got me into the red lip to begin with. Personally, this is classed as a bold lip for me but I think it is perfect for all occasions. The applicator makes it easy to apply and it lasts most of the day on the lips which means you don’t need to spend half the day topping it up.
Another red lipstick that I have fell head over heels for and one which is rather similar to Power, is the B. Lipstick in the shade Alexa. This was a lucky find when I was in Superdrug just before they discontinued the B. Makeup Range. If I remember rightly, I managed to find it for under £2 which in my eyes is a bargain! Unlike the golden, warm tone in Power, Alexa is a lot more matte whereas Power has a slight liquid lipstick feel to it.
From top to bottom: Cherry Bomb, Alexa, Vega and Power
My next favourite is the Beautiful Movements Cosmetics Lipgloss in Cherry Bomb. This a lovely subtle red which just adds a little colour onto the lips rather than being a statement lip. The formula is extremely lightweight which means it’s a perfect one to wear comfortably day-to-day. The only negative is that it can go everywhere including the top of your hot chocolate lid or your boyfriend’s cheek when you kiss him goodbye in the mornings.
Finally, I have Barry M’s Gelly Hi-Shine Lips in Vega. Unlike the others, I feel as though Vega is a cool toned lipstick thus making your teeth looking sparkling white which is always nice. The formula is so pigmented and has such a nice sheen on the lips. I haven’t really worn this lipstick during the day but it is lovely for evening occasions. I have found that this is the one that I need to re-apply the most but that doesn’t bother me as I love the colour so much. I love wearing this with minimal eye makeup as it is such a statement colour.
What are your favourite red lipsticks for the winter season?
