While walking along South Bank, there was a festival on which lasts two months. It brings together artists, communities and partners to celebrate the Same Sex Couple Act. It includes a lot of free events and is themed differently each weekend. There are large scale installations and artworks, poetry, talks and performances. What I found interesting is the background of the Festival of Love.
It celebrates the complex human relationships are all their forms, these quite obviously differ according to the people and the circumstance. The English language has one word to describe all of it: LOVE. However the Greeks have 30 words to describe each of them. The festival chose seven of them; Agape(the love of humanity), Storge(family love), Pragma(the love which endures), Philautia(self-respect), Philia (shared experience), Ludus (flirting, playful affection) and Eros(romantic and erotic love). Here’s a few snaps from the event!
