I have always had sensitive skin but when I was told that I had eczema I refused to use the non-cruelty free creams that were prescribed to me by the doctors, instead I went on my own mission to find products that would reduce the redness and prevent scratching. I went through many disturbed sleeps due to how itchy my eczema actually became that I was determined to find a number of options that I can turn to during a ‘flare-up’ and to use on a daily basis. I thought I would share with you some of my favourites that may help you if your suffering from dry skin or eczema.

First up is all the lotions and potions that I think help any dry skin suffers. There’s a few that I have tested but these seem to have worked best for me. Dream Cream is of course my all time favourite. I have wrote an in-depth review on my blog but to summarise this is the one I turn to when I am having a flare up. The oat milk, rose water and chamomile oil calm down itchy skin. Oats are a natural ingredient to treat eczema and cool skin down and the rose water, cocoa butter and extra virgin olive oil are for added nourishment for the skin. This is the one I reach for in the middle of the night when I have woken up through scratching my eczema and it cools it down almost immediately. Another favourite of mine is the Bria Organics Relief Repair Replenish Skin Cream which is packed full of natural ingredients to replenish, repair, cool and ease the itch whilst protecting the skin.

Everyone enjoys a good old bath right?! Your skin doesn’t need to suffer either. Lush have a range of bath bombs that really help dry skin and eczema suffers which is really helpful for bath time. They may not be the fanciest at performing spectacular pieces of art in your bath but trust me your skin will thank you for the ingredients that you have used. Butterball is specifically formulated for dry, sensitive or irritated skin with cocoa butter and ylang ylang oil being the only ingredients. It’s also an excellent one to use to treat stress, depression and anxiety. Avobath is another favourite. Not only does it smell amazing with lemongrass and bergamot oils but the avocado and olive oil tackle dehydrated skin. This one has a lovely lustre which gives a glowing green effect to the water which looks beautiful. Finally, Ceridwen’s Cauldron is similar to Dream Cream but in bath bomb form. As previously described, the oat milk will work wonders on dry and sensitive skin by cooling the itch. Drop the muslin pouch into your bathwater and it releases the lovely, creamy oat milk into the water. Once it has melted, you can use the bag as a washcloth. The best thing about this one in particular is that you can use it multiple times like a bubble bar.

Last but not least is shower products and I swear by one product only when my eczema is extremely bad. Original Source’s Coconut & Shea Butter Shower Gel. This is my god send product for eczema and dry skin. I love it! Not only is it super cheap and moisturises dry skin but it smells as though you have just walked off tropical sands when stepping out the shower. I highly recommend trying a bottle if you deal with dry skin because this stuff is amazing!

Finally, I just wanted to let you know that there are a couple of things that can cause eczema and surprisingly it’s not just dry skin. Other factors could include: stress, bacterial or virus infections, being unwell (even if that’s just a common cold), heat and contact with irritants like soap or detergents. You can also find out more information on the British Skin Foundation.

I would love to know what your favourite products are if you have dry skin or eczema. Have you tried any of these products to see if they soothe your skin? What’s your thoughts?
