Let’s start off with my birthday! 🥐 started the birthday celebrations off with a trip to @pia.artisanbakery, wouldn’t have it any other way 🥳 went out for a family meal at a local Italian and had a little helper with opening my presents 👩🏽‍💻 I spent my actual birthday in London for a team meeting but was also greeted with a present, super grateful! 🥰 arrived home to a Mr Men and Little Miss @the_oodie from @bryansmithnufc 🍕scooted down to York for so much needed sister time which included good views, a delicious pizza and plenty of laughs Overall it was a quiet celebration but one shared with lots of love and memories. ‼️ TW: HOMELESSNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH ‼️ Last year I found myself without a home for three months. While I was completing my degree, I resorted to brushing my teeth in the back of my car. I was working a part-time job but didn’t have enough money coming in to put a deposit down for a rented flat. Mentally, I suffered and reached a point where I considered taking my own life. Having a home is a basic necessity that not everyone has access to, and it requires action! There wasn’t a lot which sparked ‘joy’ so I worked and studied and there wasn’t much in between. I kept going because I maintained an unhealthy overthinking brain. I built @lego in the early hours of the morning. I would have cuddles from my friend’s cat on the daily basis. I listened to @the1975 on repeat. I would sit and watch the sun set every evening. I spent many a night in the bath crying. This is just one of the reasons why I love where I am working now! I get to fight for young people who are sleeping rough, whether that be on the streets, in the back of a car, with volunteers, in a hostel, or sofa surfing.
