It’s currently January 1st 2018. The start of a new year. I reckon the majority of you are all for the ‘new year, new me’ mindset and setting goals that you are probably going to achieve by the end of the year. In reality part of me is on the same level but the other part of me is feeling terribly mentally.

I’ve found the whole Christmas break really difficult and mentally it’s left me feeling broken. Yes, it’s consisted of endless pamper nights with face masks, hot showers and deliciously chocolatey treats but no amount of Celebrations will make my mind/brain feel better. If your still reading this, then thank you it means a lot.

Let’s turn this whole post into a positive. I don’t really know where this is all going but everyone loves a good list and perhaps this can be something I can look back on when I’m feeling a little bit down.

I’ve made myself a luxurious hot chocolate, have Black Mirror paused and ready to start as well as a nearly tidy flat.

This time last year, I was a lot less anxious and thought my life path was going down a completely different route. At first, I had nothing really to concentrate on apart from a relationship that I was all into and he wasn’t. February rolled round and the relationship ended. On the flip side I started a job that I actually really enjoyed and met someone who I spoke online with on and off since we were teenagers.

It was a moment that changed my life for the better. The feelings I had when I was fifteen came rushing back the moment I saw him and now I live 30 minutes away from him. Although we have had a lot of ups and downs in the process of living closer, I am excited to see what this year brings.

Anyway here’s a list of five good things about 2017: Alice and I have became best friends – I don’t know what I would do without her, I won an award for The Prince’s Trust which I thought was quite a small achievement until it came to the actually night (you can read about it here), I had the most amazing time at the CarnLIVal event in April, I moved away from a place that I felt rather anxious and I started to feel more confident in front of a camera.

Okay, maybe 2017 wasn’t as bad as I thought it was about 10 minutes ago.

My goals for 2018 aren’t really that specific. It’s probably because I actually want to ‘achieve’ at least one of them by the end of the year.

I want to eat healthier not to change my body or lose weight but just eat a bit better for my health. It might even make me feel a little bit better mentally too.

I really want to push myself out of my comfort zone and do things that I would usually decline because I’m scared of what others might think. I’ve been really wanting to jump onto this YouTube bandwagon for a while but keep putting pressure on myself. I need to stop thinking about what other people think of myself and do things for me, not for others.

I’ve set myself a goal to read a book a month. I’ve done a lot of reading of the past year and although I am not as quick as most, I really enjoy being lost in a fiction most days.

I really want to meet new people. I’ve moved to a new area and rarely know anyone six months later. I guess this one is going to start pretty soon because I start a new job soon. I would love to go to a bloggers event on my own and meet some new people.

I really got into taking outfit photos on my blog in 2017. I would love to continue becoming more confident in front of the camera.

Finally here’s five things I’m looking forward to in 2018: allowing myself time to look after my brain, reading more books instead of watching TV, stop stressing on the little things, binge-watching Friends (thanks Netflix!) and saying yes to more opportunities.

Thank you to all of you being so incredible and being there for me when I needed you through the ups and the downs of 2017. I hope you stick around for 2018 because I’m really excited to share some new content and where my little part of the internet is going to go.
