Last week I decided to re-organise my makeup stash. This led me to finding products that I haven’t used in a while as well as starting to test out some of my new makeup that I haven’t even opened. I know, you beauty gurus are probably all screaming at your laptop screens right now. I’m sorry. I should have probably done this at the start of summer.

For the base, I have been loving the lighter foundations and bronzed, sun-kissed look. I’ve tried to keep it rather simple with Barry M’s Flawless Matte Finish Foundation. It’s a really great base for the summer because it doesn’t contain any oil so you can happily grab yourself a tan whilst sipping your Pina Colada or Virgin Mojito without worrying that you are going to be left looking like a melting bar of Nestle’s Smarties Sharing Block. It’s also a really light foundation so it leaves you feeling as though you haven’t got any base makeup on at all. I haven’t been getting much sleep lately but Makeup Revolution’s Focus & Fix Concealer has been my god send product for a long time now. I accidentally picked up Fair but realised that it hides my dark circles better than my usual shade. Since then I tend to go for a lighter concealer for under my eyes and my usual colour, Medium Dark, for hiding those pesky spots and blemishes. For those, such as myself, who haven’t been lucky enough to go abroad this year Barry M’s Afterglow Light Bronzer will do the trick. Lightly bronze under your cheek bones with your favourite brush and everyone will assume you have just stepped off the plane after a two week holiday.

I have been adding pops of colour to my cheeks with a splash of Crochet or Chantilly both from the Sleek By 3 Blush Palette in Lace. It’s an old favourite of mine which I adore. The colours suit my skin tone and gives you that summer vibe with the slight sparkle and brightness of the blushers. The palette also comes with a handy compact mirror so it would be a great addition to your travel makeup bag.

I am usually all about the smokey eye look with an array of colours but instead of siting for hours applying my makeup I have wanted to keep it quite simple. The Urban Decay Naked Basic (1 & 2) palettes have been my go-to eyeshadows. You probably know the drill by now but the shades are all pigmented and rather neutral so they would suit any kind of look you are trying to re-create. The shades are really easy to blend and still make you look as you have made an effort with your eye makeup. Urban Decay’s Eye Pencil in Stag (Corrupt is a similar colour) has also made it on to my summer favourites this year. It’s a dark brown eyeliner that looks great during the day or night. The eyeliner is really easy to apply because it just glides on without any difficulties. I have sometimes smudged it out if I wanted to go for a smokey look in the evening too. I think the statement ‘there’s no point fixing it if it ain’t broken‘ applies to this next product. Barry M’s That’s How I Roll Mascara is my ultimate favourite at the moment. It adds extra volume to my lashes and gives it a slight curl by simply wiggling the brush a little when applying it. The mascara lasts more or less all day which is an added bonus during the summer months. The last thing you want to be doing is re-applying mascara when topping that tan up on the beach.

There’s only been one lip product that I have been wearing for most of the summer. Beautiful Movement’s Liquid Lipstick in Cherry Bomb has been my fave. It might look like quite a bright red thanks to the packaging but as a matter of fact it is a lovely sheer, glossy red. It adds a little bit of colour to your lips without going over the top. The glossy shine to the lipstick makes it a great day-to-night combo no matter what the occasion is. Finally, I have been spritzing Sunshine by The Library Of Fragrance like it’s no tomorrow. Personally, it is like summer in a bottle. You know the fresh weather that you wake up to on a beautiful sunny morning.

What have been your favourite products from the summer months? Anything I have mentioned? Let me know in the comments. (PS – I am not sponsored by Barry M although I wish I was!)
