Isn’t it amazing how blogging has really taken off recently?! Being from the North East and such a new blogger myself, it doesn’t give me that much of an opportunity to introduce myself to network with other bloggers until saw the #NEBloggerAwards being advertised on my Twitter feed. Not only was it good for my introverted personality to put myself out there a bit more, it allowed me to build on my confidence and meet some wonderful people from the blogging community and network. After all, that is what my degree is all about. I went with the lovely Laura.
The night was held at Lane7 in Newcastle by OPR, one of the North East’s largest PR companies, and my god they did an excellent job. There was some nibbles, drinks and various entertainment, not forgetting the goodie bags we received at the end. However, the main reason of the event couldn’t have been forgotten. I wasn’t shortlisted for an award but it was great to see some oof the amazing talent which we have as a region!
I would like to say a huge congratulations to Carly from Beauty Sauce, Katie from Blonde Ambition and Tasha from Hello Freckles whose blogs I enjoy reading. All three girls are such an inspiration to all of us North East bloggers.

I can’t believe it’s been nearly two weeks since my sister got married. It still feels all a bit surreal. I was a bridesmaid along with three of her best friends. The weather stayed clear all day which was perfect for taking photographs and getting some fresh air. I enjoyed spending the weekend with family and friends so I just wanted to share with you some moments from the day with you. I have tried to pick a few of the less personal ones, hope you don’t mind.
This is the first wedding I have ever been too and I loved everything about the whole day. My sister looked stunning! All her personal touches just made the day and the venue extra special. It was nice to see everyone’s hard work pay off too. The wedding favours were handmade cake pops, the three tiered cake was also handmade by non other than my sister herself and the whole family opened up their creative side with making personalised tea candle holders. Everything just looked amazing!

As some of you may know I am trying my best to be healthy and possibly lose some weight before my sister’s wedding in October. When I was approached by the lovely guys at Upbeat to review their new fruit dairy protein drinks, I jumped at the chance. Not going to lie to you here but when I heard High Protein I was a bit scared and wanted to run a mile (especially with my anxiety of trying new things!) but I thought I would give them a chance and see what I thought of them.
I have been so used to making up smoothies and milkshakes for the past couple of weeks that it was nice to have something which I could just go and buy from Holland & Barrett or Tesco. I have been paying close attention to all the other similar products on the market and they all have really high sugar content which I never really noticed until now. The good thing about Upbeat is that they only have 2g of sugar in them, straight in the basket from my eyes.
Here’s what they say: “Upbeat is a delicious dairy protein drink that helps set you up for the day – perfect for busy people on the go.”
As far as I am aware there are three flavours to choose from: Strawberry, Mango with Passion Fruit and Blueberry with Raspberry. They are all delicious but I definitely think the Blueberry and Raspberry one is my favourite. I currently have a week’s worth in the fridge. Think of the Activia pouring yogurts, well they are better tasting and more healthier than that. They are perfect for snacking or for an on-the-go healthy breakfast option. The consistency isn’t too thick or thin which is brilliant for fussy eaters.
Upbeat is available from Tescos, Waitrose, Holland & Barrett and Ocado. Their extremely cute and attractive website will help you find a stockist near you as well. I managed to get a few 50p off coupons so if you’re interested in trying one then let me know in the comments below. I will be picking the first five people who comment first. (You must be following my blog, not just for the competition!)
Have you tried Upbeat before? What’s your opinion?

For the last five years, I have suffered from sensitive skin. Eczema started appearing on my hands and arms, making me really self conscious especially in the summer when everyone was walking round in nice tops with their arms on show. I didn’t want to use any of the creams and lotions which various doctors gave me so I was on the search for a new product which would appeal to people like me. I found Dream Cream back in 2011 and it certainly gets the thumbs up from me.
Dream Cream is a cream designed for sensitive and easily upset skins. It contains oat milk (for soothing and calming the skin), rose absolute (for balancing and nourishing the skin), lavender oil (antiseptic and helps to heal the skin) and more. The texture of Dream Cream is thick and creamy. Lush have recently bought out a self-preserving option which feels a lot more concentrated. Personally, I think the self-preserving one feels better and works quicker on my skin but it doesn’t matter which one you use. I have found that it does take a little longer to absorb into the skin but my eczema and sensitive skin is left feeling cooler and nourished as soon as I apply it.
This has helped my skin so much and in my opinion is the perfect moisturiser for eczema sufferers such as myself. Dream Cream is certainly an essential in my daily routine. I don’t think I would ever go back to using the E45 cream which doctors recommend. I think if you’re currently suffering from sunburn, this will most definitely help your skin too due to it’s cooling ingredients. At £11.50, it isn’t that expensive if you want something which will ease and restore sensitive, upset skin. One of the things I do love about Lush is that you will be able to try a sample of the product before you buy the whole thing and don’t forget to keep your black pot to recycle too.
What’s your opinion on Dream Cream? Have you ever used it before?
Everyone knows how much I love Barry M, right?! They are actually one of the first ever beauty brands that I got into. I remember it being my treat with my Aunt when I used to go to town on the weekend, she always treated me to a Lush bath bomb and a nail polish for a mini pamper evening. Of course I just had to jump on the bandwagon when these beauties were released! The quality of the polishes are amazing and so good compared to the original shades. After one or two coats, you can achieve a nice opacity depending on how light the shade is.
There are so many shades so you are bound to find one which you fall in love with. The range is priced at £3.99 which I think is super affordable as you are getting a long lasting, high quality drugstore nail varnish which is such a lovely formula. Although they don’t last as long as getting my nails professionally done, the formulation usually lasts me about a week completely chip free with a top coat applied which I think is quite impressive for a drugstore brand.
Have you tried the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes yet? What’s your favourite shade?
