Bedroom Room Tour

I’ve been meaning to post about my bedroom for a while now and I’m finally feeling happy with how it is. I was wanting to create a space where it was like a safe haven that I could relax and unwind in, and I think I’ve got it down to a tea!

This room has been my childhood room with pink and yellow colours and plenty of Barbie merchandise. It’s grown with me to a wonderful relaxed space where I can read a book, binge-watch Netflix, experiment with makeup before work or get a good night sleep.

The main feature in this room of course, is my bed! I’ve been after the Brimnes Double Bed for years and I love it. I brought it when I moved into my flat and really wanted to bring it back, I’m super happy that I did. I love how much storage it has: the sides can fit an array of things in such as books, glasses and TV remotes whilst the drawers underneath are home to sentimental things and bedding.

On the sideboard, I usually have a range of cups, glasses and empty yogurt pots but I thought I better have a bit of a tidy for the images. I keep my Company magazines and Penelope the plant alongside some sentimental pieces that I fit think the aesthetic of my room. I was kindly gifted the piano from my Grandma before she passed away and the old Dairy Milk tin was from a Christmas years ago which had little Cadbury chocolates in. I’ve tried to keep it quite minimalistic so I don’t feel as though it is cluttered.

Down from my bed, I keep an array of cushions, my Build-A-Bear from Mark, my special teddy from my Grandma and a microwavable teddy which is perfect if you have really bad cramps. I keep them at the bottom of the bed because it means they very rarely go down the side. It’s just laziness and saving myself some time in the mornings because I hate doing my bed. I usually have some pastel, geometric Primark bedding on however this particular set is actually something I picked up from New Look in the sale for £7. They are usually about £25!

The one thing I’ve always dreamt of having in my room is a beauty vanity desk – it’s like the piece of furniture that I never knew I needed until I got it. I saw this CherryTree Dressing Table with Stool and Mirror Set and I was sold! Not only does it fill the space perfectly but it is a perfect home for my makeup brushes and my everyday makeup that I try and switch up a little bit, hair accessories and medication. It wasn’t even that difficult to build because the instructions were so clear.

The heart decoration is made by a lovely lady called Rebecca who owns Seaglass Jewellery & Art. I met her at the Whitley Bay Carnival, it’s made out of sea glass and jewels. I picked up the Honey Bee Jar from Next last year and keep my Winnie The Pooh collection in. If you haven’t watched The Tigger Movie before then I highly recommend it. I’ve stored my face brushes in a Starbucks London Mug whilst my eye makeup brushes are kept in my Chip Mug that many people have brought from Primark.

Alongside from my vanity table, I have a bookshelf with plenty of DVDs that I can watch when I want to relax before bed, a floor length mirror that was super affordable from The Range and a bedside table that I covered in Marble Self Adhesive Film from Wilko. I think it’s a great way to up-cycle a piece of furniture! On my windowsill, I keep family photos and a tin full of shells that I’ve collected from plenty of beach walks. The rug is actually from B&M Bargains which I think goes lovely with the colour scheme of my room.

Underneath my TV storage I keep my Playstation 4, Tim Burton’s Tragic Toys collection which I got whilst in New York, the Harry Potter book collection, all my fragrances and some Pandora bags that I just can’t get rid of, my Harry Potter Chess Set and the Spiderwick Chronicles and Narnia book collections. Similar to the rest of the room, I’ve tried to keep it simple and not cluttered full of things.Above my Alex drawers is my Crosley Player which I am so in love with. I also have a white wire frame which I clip Instax prints, blogger event photos and some images that I got from Printiki. Don’t forget you can also use my discount for free delivery:7S74Q57. My recent addition to this collage of prints is the Whitley Bay print which I got from Sea Tern Prints that was at the Whitley Bay Carnival. Again, the company is run by a lovely lady called Michelle who specialises in etching and monoprint.

Along the wall is some cube storage with another chess set however this is one I brought back from a holiday in Greece, a Jo Malone bag with various samples in, a fake succulent plant and an Egypt hieroglyphic glass ornament. I tend to keep photo albums, candles and other sentimental things in the first two cubes and the others are used for storage. My prints are from Desenio which you can read more about here.I think I’ve created a perfect space which I love. It’s definitely not minimal but I like that it’s tidy and not too cluttered so I can easily relax and unwind in my space. Personally, I can relax easier when things aren’t so messy but I still like to have a bit of ‘life’ around my room. Considering it is such a small space, I think it works really well together.

I hope you enjoyed this little look at my bedroom! Has this post given you some ideas for your room?

Embracing Your Body And Learning To Love Yourself

We all know by now that I’ve struggled with my self-confidence issues for a while. There’s so many things that I’m always ranting on about. I rarely feel good in my clothes and constantly feel like I’m struggling with what to wear to work.

Thrifted Denim Jacket, Black Stripe Crop Trousers, Black Stripe Crop Top, Straw Trim Flatform Trainers

I’ve started back at Slimming World for what feels like the millionth time but more recently I’ve also learnt to be a little less harsh on myself. Life is far too short to be worrying about how I hate my arms and the thigh gap that I’m forever lusting over. I’ve started trying new trends and pieces that I wouldn’t usually go for including horizontal stripes which I used to avoid like the plague. I’ve tried to stop finding ways to cover up my body in hoodies and massive coats which are clearly too big for me. All these steps that I have took are massive changes for me which I am trying to embrace. In all honesty, I am so happy with the changes I’ve made and I think it’s really began to show.

Three months ago I wouldn’t have been able to sit at my computer telling this little corner of the net that I feel slightly more confident in front of the camera. Okay, I’m definitely not the size that I would love to be and losing weight is going to be a rollercoaster of a journey but I don’t see myself getting off any time soon. I can’t wait to feel body confident again and be able to walk into a clothing store and now exactly what is suited to me and my body shape.

Personally, I think society and the media whether that’s online or offline requires you to look or feel a certain way. It is making a lot of people feel as though they aren’t good enough to achieve certain aspects of their lives whether that is to lose weight and be more body confident or to aim towards a certain goal in life but what I say is f**k them! You be who you want to be because what matters is your own personal happiness and your mental health. If you feel good about something, don’t stop doing it. If you want to achieve that goal, then do anything you can to achieve it. If you want to wear that dress for your weekend night-out, then wear that god damn dress and let the haters hate. After all, they are probably just jealous!

Overall, I don’t really know where this post is heading but I do know that in a years time we probably aren’t going to be pondering over how we felt in the girls’ toilets that Saturday night because there is so many more important things in life for you to concentrate on. You are such an amazing person. Don’t stop being you.

I’d love to know how you deal with body confidence? How do you embrace yourself? Share your tips below!

The New Look Charity Ball Event

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past five months, you will probably know that I work for New Look. It’s just as a Sales Advisor but to me it is so much more than that. Not only has it given me a routine again but it consistently fills me with confidence, joy and pleasure. Is there really any feeling that’s better than enjoying your alarm to get you up for work? I’ve made friends not only from my current store but the Shrewsbury store that I started in which I still keep in touch with to this day. Anyway, I’m rambling…I am not really here to talk about my job but more of the charity ball that was hosted at the weekend.

Before a lovely night which you can read about in a bit, I had to pick my outfit. I had tried on so many dresses because it felt like that kind of night but in the end I went for a culotte jumpsuit from New Look. I feel so confident in it although it was something very unlike me. This weekend I have planned to wear it with some white sandals and a denim jacket if the weather is still lovely.

The night was to raise as much money for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity but it was such a good night. There was awards to be won, drinks, socialising with other stores in the region and a raffle. Lucky enough our store managed to win three awards in total which was pretty good going: Lindsay won Sales Advisor of the Year, Ashleigh won VM Star of the Year and Jenny won Best Hub Post. I’m so proud of our team! After the awards, we danced the night away and had a right good laugh.

I’m not too sure how much we raised altogether but for now here is some images from the evening:

Brunch At The Crab & Waltzer

Whitley Bay’s coastline has been under refurbishment for some time now with lots of new places opening up from the new Premier Inn with sea views and the Crab & Waltzer which is a short walk away from Whitley Bay seafront. There has been mixed reviews since opening in Summer 2017 however it was still a place that I was eager to try.

The interior is a coastal favourite with colourful little beach huts for a children’s play area, fairy lights and fairground inspired interior including a waltzer table. I’m lucky enough to live two streets away and when I walk the dogs down the coast, I can see that it gets rather busy. If there’s one thing I love, it’s being able to see a place such as the Crab & Waltzer be surround with families having a lovely time. Alice and I was fortunate to go whilst it was pretty quiet so we grabbed ourselves a table close to the windows.

After ordering drinks, I opted for a banana milkshake whilst Alice went for a flat white coffee, we browsed the menu. We kind of already knew what we wanted so it didn’t take long however there are many choices suitable for all kind of taste buds. The food turned up quite quickly but again I think that was because it was quiet and there wasn’t many tables in front of us. Alice had the New York Cheesecake Pancakes which was topped with vanilla mascarpone, fresh blueberries and biscuit crumb whilst I went for The Waltzer Pancakes that had bananas, Nutella, peanut praline and salted caramel sauce.

Overall, our experience at the Crab & Waltzer was a really good experience. It’s a lovely place to go for brunch during the week however I know that Chloe from New Girl In Toon went about a month ago and her experience was very different. The waitresses were extremely friendly and delivered the food promptly. The pancakes were delicious and extremely filling!

I’d love to know if you’ve experienced the Crab & Waltzer. What was your experience like?

Feeling Swimwear Confident With Matalan

Feeling Swimwear Confident With Matalan

The holiday season is fast approaching and although I haven’t yet booked a holiday there is a high chance that I will be. The one thing that I have always found difficult when it comes to holiday shopping is swimwear but luckily, with the help of Matalan, it didn’t turn out all that bad. Similar to the majority of you reading this, I dread the bikini season so hopefully the styles of swimwear I will share with you today can help at least one of you.

Matalan have an excellent choice of swimwear style for all different body shapes and sizes. I find it such a challenge finding bikini sets that fit both the top and bottom but thankfully you can buy them separately from Matalan so you can get the sizes that actually fit you rather than multiple sets. The quality of their swimwear range is fantastic as well with really good quality fabric.

The first style I went for was this spot skirted swimsuit. As soon as I clicked on the swimsuit I just knew I would fall in love with it. I love the unique skirt style because it hides my thighs which is not my favourite of areas. The swimsuit has been constructed with shape enhancing technology designed to slim your waist and flatten your tummy which I feel as though it does. When looking in the mirror, I felt confident and happy with my body which doesn’t usually happen when it came to swim suits.

The second style is one that I am a lot more confident with and that’s a tankini bikini. As I have mentioned earlier, I like how you can buy the shorts and the top separately so you can buy the sizes that suit you the best. I really like the bright coloured and fun pattern of the tankini and think it would be brilliant for a summer holiday. It’s the style that I feel a lot more comfortable in out of the three that I chose.

I tend to avoid the usual bikini style as I feel really self conscious when it comes to my stomach and my thighs but I just couldn’t resist this tassel pom pom bikini. I think this kind of bikini is great for lazying around the beach or pool. I was a little bit nervous how I would feel in it but after sizing up in the the top half I felt really confident in bikini style. I love the unique tassel pom pom detailing from both the top and the shorts which I believe draws your attention away from my body problem areas. Similarly to the rest of the bikinis that Matalan offer, you can buy the shorts separate from the bikini top which I really like.

What have you got planned for the Summer? Have you ever tried the Matalan swimwear? What’s your thoughts? I have already started looking at a few holiday deals but nothing is organised as of yet.
