An Introduction To Binky London

An Introduction To Binky London

Binky London is a brand that I have never heard across the blogging community. It is owned by Binky Felstead who was on Made in Chelsea. I saw her products in my weekly shop around the Co-op for £2 each so I thought I would pick up a couple of products to see how I get on with them.

Of course, I did email Binky London to check their cruelty free status beforehand and this is what they said: Binky London is a brand owned by Pascalle Ltd, which is part of Deeset Ltd, a privately owned company in the UK. I then asked them whether they test on animals at any point during products, whether the ingredients is tested on animals by suppliers, if any third part test on animals on their behalf or whether they test on animals when required by law and they stated No to every question. As far as I am aware, this technically means that they are cruelty free friendly.

Firstly, I picked up Desire, a gorgeous, nude-shaded lipstick which is perfect for this time of year. It’s quite pigmented especially for only £2! Like all of her lipsticks, the formulation is enriched with Vitamin E so it is extremely moisturising on the lips. It’s quickly become one of my go-to lipsticks.

I also picked up one of her nail polishes in the shade Pink Crystal. It is a lovely sparkly shade which would be gorgeous for any parties that you will more than likely be attending over the festive season. The polish lasts for days on the nails, I worn mine for a solid two weeks before removing and there was hardly any chipping. I did apply two layers however you could probably get away with just the one if you didn’t want to make too much of an impact.

Finally I picked up the Volume Mascara from her range. At first, I was shocked at how big the mascara wand is however I’ve grown to love it. It is taking me back to my teenage makeup days when I fell in love with Rimmel’s mascaras however this is a cruelty free choice. It implies that it gives a thickening effect to your lashes and honestly I couldn’t agree more. For the price, I feel as though its worth looking into if you are on the market for a mascara to give your lashes volume. It’s not too clumpy on the lashes either which is something that I always look out for too.

Have you tried any of Binky London’s Makeup? Do you agree with the cruelty free status?

Festive Photography Prop Ideas

This year I have really tried to up my photography game and although it is not fantastic, I feel as though it has improved.

With this in mind, photography props have become quite important to me. I’ve been trying to throw all sorts of creative ideas together to make my photos look a little different during Blogmas. I’ve actually got a whole cube full of props for seasonal photography and just for my ‘everyday’ blog photos that I post all year round. There’s so many things that you can actually use because you can use anything as a prop but I’ve put together a few ideas to up your blogging game during the festive period. Hopefully it can help some of you out for ideas…

Christmas Magazines are my favourite type of festive photography prop. I always find the pages filled with gorgeous aesthetic images and are the perfect thing to add to your posts, especially the beauty related ones. Did I mention this can be free to? You can simply pick up the Boots Health & Beauty magazine for free if your an advantage card holder or even Superdrug’s DARE magazine for free whilst your doing your Christmas shopping.

Decorations are another go-to photo prop for December. You will always have spare baubles, decorative beads, fairy lights, tinsel and candy canes laying around the house. They can add colour and sparkle to photos to give your images a bit more of a festive feel.

Whilst you are wrapping up your presents, you could always keep some spare wrapping paper, ribbontags or even use the finished presents in your images during Blogmas. I was lucky enough to be gifted some personalised gift wrap from Pretty Gifted this year however you could use the ones that you have brought to wrap your Christmas presents up. I like to layer them on top of each other so it isn’t just one colour.

Patterned fabrics is another one of my favourites. I don’t know about you but I have some amazing Christmas bedding on, thanks to Primark. I love using a splash of pattern in the back of my images. I find it’s not to much if you feature it in the corner of some images. You could also use scarves, patterned pyjamas or those extremely festive leggings that you find in Primark these days. It’s another great way to add different textures to your images too.

Not one of my favourites just because of the mess it can leave but why not use glitter sprinkled in images to add something different. It doesn’t have to be loads, it could even be specifically Christmas/Festive related glitter pieces that you can find in craft stores.

During Autumn I used artificial leaves in the background of some images that I took for my blog posts, why not use pinecones? You can find some artificial ones here or you could even go on a walk to find your own.

Hopefully this help some of you out a little or gave you some photography inspiration maybe?!

Getting A Great Night Sleep With Benenox*

One of the worst things that I have ever had to deal with is insomnia. If you have had it then you will understand the pain that I go through. It all started when I went to university in 2013. I remember going downstairs to my friend’s room at 3am every morning requesting one of her sleeping tablets but they never really worked. Nowadays it’s even worse in my attempt to switch off from social media proves difficult and then when I do I end up overthinking everything from a list of things I need to do to worrying about something which is probably stupid.

Apparently the standard eight hours sleep isn’t enough for some people, it’s down to the quality of sleep. Anyway, as you can imagine when the lovely team over at Benenox sent me their Overnight Recharge I was extremely intrigued to find out if it improves my sleep.

So, your probably wondering what the heck is Benenox? Well, Benenox Overnight Recharge are a flavoured food supplement ideal for those who struggle with disrupted sleep, tiredness, low energy and concentration levels. It claims to “supplement your body’s stored energy levels to support good quality sleep, leaving you feeling fully recharged and ready to take on the day ahead“.

It comes in two flavours, Blackcurrant and Lemon & Ginger. Overnight Recharge is a combination of:

honey which is known for its health benefits and believed to boost glycogen stored in the liver to use during the night

Sustamine® which is a combination of two amnio acids to help the liver store glycogen by slowing the absorption of honey in the stomach

Vitamin B6 which has been shown to reduce tiredness and fatigue while supporting psychological function in turn helping you feel more energised.

I have used the product since 6th November and the first thing I have noticed is the effect it has had on my concentration levels. I feel as though I can truly concentrate on the work I do when I am in college as well as paying more attention when I am at my placement. Obviously working with a lot of children during the day and playing with my boyfriend’s six year old means I need a lot of energy – Benenox Overnight Recharge has improved my energy levels as well. It’s nice to know that the product has improved how I function during the day but the main question is, has it improved my sleep?

I can’t say it’s improved when I go to sleep because I’m still finding that difficult however falling asleep as been a lot quicker since taking the food supplement. It kind of puts my body into a relaxed, calm state so I’m not worrying about a million different things every night but I do still have the distraction on of my phone and switching off from that. I have been measuring my the quality of my sleep through the ‘Bedtime’ function on my iPhone and ever since starting the food supplements, the quality of my sleep as improved massively. Nowadays, once I am asleep, I stay asleep which is such a big improvement.

If you’re interested in trying Benenox Overnight Recharge, you can find the vegetarian friendly food supplement in Tesco and on Amazon, priced at £12.49 for 135ml. For further infomration, visit www.benenox.com. It is quite expensive compared to sleeping tablets but I’m definitely going to continue purchasing it for a decent night sleep.

Have you tried Benenox before? Are you a night owl or a morning person? You can take the quiz here!

Harry Potter Tag

On my Sunday blogging catch up, I found the Harry Potter Tag on Jessica’s blog. I think just about any 90’s child was into Harry Potter. Although it took me a while to read them, I loved the books and always crack on the films around this kind of year so what better way to start the winter season than with the tag itself.

What house are you in?

According to Pottermore, I’m a Hufflepuff. Hufflepuffs’ are hardworking, dedicated and loyal which I think describes my personality quite well however they are apparently quite patient which I know that I’m definitely not. Personally I think I am a mix of Hufflepuff and Gryffindor and Nymphadora is one of my favourite characters. She is a Hufflepuff too so I guess I am okay with that.

What is your patronus?

Pottermore states my patronus is a dolphin but I’m sure it will probably change overtime a bit like how Nymphadora’s changed when she fell in love with Lupin.

What is your wand?

Again according to Pottermore, my wand is beech wood with a Phoenix feather core 9 3/4″ and reasonably supple flexibility.

What would your boggart be?

Mine would be a spider. No doubt about it. As soon as a spider crawls into the room, I can’t jump high enough.

What position would you play in Quidditch?

I actually hate sports. Can I be the supporter? The one standing around the arena supporting my team. That seems like a good position to me.

Would you be a pure blood, half blood or muggle born?

I would like to think I can be a half blood but in reality I’ll probably be muggle born.

What job would you want to do after graduating from Hogwarts?

A dragon keeper, does that even exist? Perhaps something with animals, similar to Newt’s job.

Which of the Deathly Hallows would you chose?

The cloak of invisibility of course! Who wouldn’t though?!

What is your favourite book?

I actually loved the Order of the Phoenix and the Philosopher’s Stone.

What is your least favourite book?

Chamber of Secrets. It took me a super long time to read it cause I just didn’t understand it as much as the others until I watched the film.

What is your favourite film?

Harry Potter of the Philosopher’s Stone is my favourite with Goblet of Fire coming in as a close second.

What is your least favourite film?

Chamber of Secrets. I don’t know why but I just don’t like it.

Who is your favourite character?

Nymphadora Tonks, Dobby or Luna Lovegood.

Who is your least favourite/most hated character?

Peter Pettigrew. I didn’t like him from the moment in went on the screens. He is such a a chicken and needs to stand up for himself a bit more however his character in the books is okay.

Who is your favourite teacher at Hogwarts?

Snape.

Who is your least favourite teacher at Hogwarts?

Dolores Umbridge. Does anyone else think she is just a bit of a bitch?

Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series?

A lot of people in the Potter community think that Harry Potter himself is weak but honestly I think they are completely wrong. I can go into great depths about this but at the end of the day he has had a tough start to his life and then was given the task to find the hocruxes by himself. Of course, he is going to need help from a range of different people.

If you could save once character from the final battle, who would it be?

Hedwig. Nymphadora Tonks. I would love to be able to save Dobby too.

If you would like to do the tag, feel free to steal the questions? What house are you in? I would love to know!
