Valentine’s Day Makeup Look

Valentine’s Day Makeup Look

Whether your in a relationship or not, Valentine’s was a good excuse for makeup lovers to get creative with their looks and that’s exactly what I have done. I have grabbed my Full Spectrum Palette that I am still madly in love with and created a makeup look that would be good for any kind of date you have prepared.

Starting with the base, I went for my go-to duo which is of course the GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation and the Makeup Revolution Focus & Fix Concealer. I used the Beautiful Movements Bronzer in Summer Warmth and the Beautiful Movements Blush in Velvet Dawn as I know both of these products are long wearing and just give a slight shimmer to the cheeks. I didn’t want to go to heavy on my base makeup as the eyes and the lipstick is what I really wanted to concentrate on to make the look really pop.

For my eyes I used: Gossip and Delirious in my outer crease, Seize on my lid, Paranoia in my inner corner and blended it out a little with Bump. I think the shades went really well together. One thing I do love about the Full Spectrum Palette is that all the shades work really well together and blend beautifully. The eye look isn’t too heavy but still looks beautiful. I finished my eyes of with the Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner and Barry M’s That’s How I Roll Mascara.

Finally to finish the look off, I applied a bit of Lippy Girl’s Goddess Lipstick. If you have read my blog for a while, you will more than likely know that I am so nervous when it comes to wearing dark lipstick shades but I have fell head over heels in love with this one. It’s so beautiful and powerful on the lips although if you were wanting to re-create this look for a day date, you could always apply GOSH’s Velvet Touch Matte Lipstick in Smoothie which is a lovely pink shade.

Did you do anything special to celebrate Valentine’s this year? Perhaps you are planning a girls’ night out later this week? Let me know what your go-to products are for Valentine’s.

Two Hearts Beating As One Bath Melt Review

Two Hearts Beating As One was the one Lush product that I was most intrigued about when the Valentine’s Day collection was first released. I honestly think that the Valentine’s collection is one of my most favourite that they release each and every year. I love Unicorn Horn. I love the Prince Charming Shower Cream. I especially love Lover Lamp but this year it’s the bath melt that stole my heart. Damn you cupid!

Alone bath melts don’t provide you with a huge extravagant display perhaps just some added colour but they can easily been thrown into your bubble bath or used to create a cocktail with another bath bomb to create an enhanced scent. They are usually packed full of butters and essentials oils that ripple through your bath to create waters that feel silky and smooth once you immerse  your body in the water. These butters and essential oils softens and hydrates the skin so much so that you don’t really need to moisturise. I occasionally use Frozen with Razzle Dazzle because the two together smell like a tropical paradise.

The scent of Two Hearts smells totally unique and different compared to other scents in Lush. It is floral and sweet but not so strong as other bath melts. It goes really well with the Cupid Bath Bomb that they have also released this year. It has ylang ylang and rose oils to give it the floral scent whilst the almond oils, apricot kennel oils and cocoa butters hydrate and nourish the skin. The bath melt can be split into two; one for your best friend or partner and the other for you, or you could treat yourself and throw the whole thing in at once. If you have time to pick one up before they disappear for the rest of the year, I highly suggest picking one up.

My Self Care Routine

I have recently had a hellish week. I have tried to stay away from social media all together and I was tempted to not blog at all but I think it’s important to document this part of my life. As you all know, Edd and I were both excited about the prospect of moving out – well so I thought! He nearly broke up with me until I decided it will be better to see how we feel in two weeks. It broke me.

I didn’t expect it and that’s what the worst part is. He told me he has been unhappy and now I have questioned the whole relationship. He was my world. I was happy with him and I honestly couldn’t imagine this happening to us. It’s left me feeling completely rubbish and down. I thought I would talk about a couple of things that I’ve done to help make the heartache a little less painful.

Take some time to pamper yourself

I don’t know about you but that moment that you turn off the light, burn some candles and soak in a hot bubble bath with relaxing music on makes me feel ten times happier! I crumbled up some Unicorn Horn, thrown in my all-time favourite Lover Lamp Bath Bomb and added a couple drops of Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Restoring Senses Bath Oil* and dipped myself in the bath. The Moroccan Rose Oil is such a calming, stress-reliving aroma. It left my skin feeling moisturised and nourished. It has argan oil which is rich in vitamins to help protect the skin whilst the jojoba oil enhance the skin’s natural suppleness and elasticity.  My family must have thought I nearly drowned in that bath cause I was probably in there for a good three hours or more…

Once I jumped out the bath, before throwing on my snuggly pyjamas, I applied the Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose & Shea Butter Body Repairing Cream*. This stuff is amazing! The shea butter is rich in vitamins leaving your skin feeling super soft and hydrated whilst the apricot kennel oil is amazing for dry and sensitive skins. I have quite bad eczema so I am wary about trying new skincare products incase it flares up but half a week later and my skin has never felt so nourished and soft.

Keep yourself busy

I spent time with my cousin yesterday. I saw his new house and spent time sorting his internet out. He helped me by keeping my mind off how I was feeling. For those few hours I forgot about how hurt I was. I came back home, changed my bedding and sorted my room out. I took old photos down and lit a couple of tea light candles. Although I didn’t get to sleep until 3.45am, I managed to fall asleep. I didn’t need to worry about blowing the tea lights out because I knew they wouldn’t be burning for ages anyway. Organise paperwork, paint your nails, read blogs, watch YouTube, do anything apart from text him/her or look at old photos! I spent my nights reading books. Anyone who knows me will understand that I am not a fast reader but I managed to get through Charlotte Crosby’s Me Me Me and Catherine Bennetto’s How Not To Fall In Love Actually which I highly recommend for anyone going through a breakup or is on a relationship break.

Watch all the movies and TV series you want

Not only will they be a great distraction but they might actually provide some kind of laughter or advice that you could use. This week I treated myself to How To Be Single and Bridget Jones’s Baby. I have watched them so many times that I probably know the words to both of them backwards by now. I have also spent the evenings when I have struggled to sleep watching Gossip Girl. It’s made me feel so much better!

Eat anything!

Are you wanting to finish that packet of Texas BBQ Pringles? Do it! Fancy a tub of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream? Treat yo’self! Allow yourself to eat whatever you want without caring. We are girls. We are allowed to binge eat when our emotions are uncontrollable. If it makes you feel any better I started the week of without eating anything after three days and a rush into hospital cause I was dehydrated I pigged out. I ate a McDonald’s, three share bag Cadbury Twirl Bites, two tubes of Pringles, a bag of popcorn and a large pizza from Dominoes. Oh and a tub of Ben & Jerry’s or two or three.

Write down everything your feeling

I have kept a notebook by my side. It’s given me the chance to right down everything that was running through my mind. If your going through a relationship break you could have a chance to read it back to them. It will explain exactly how you feel. If you have actually broken up with your boyfriend/girlfriend then it’s there to read back. Guaranteed it will probably give you a million reasons to not get back with them. It is harder when you feel as though they haven’t done anything wrong but in time you will find at least one fault that you wouldn’t have thought about in the first couple of days.

Cry your little heart out

It’s okay to cry. You won’t be judged. Your hurting and it’s normal to cry. Edd left some of his things at mine, one of which his is hoody and every night I have sprayed his aftershave all over the hood, snuggled into it and cried myself to sleep. Letting it all out has really helped and after a couple of days you probably won’t have any tears left to cry anyway.

Take a break from social media

I haven’t really done this but I haven’t been as active as usual. I could lie to you and say that I haven’t snooped on Edd’s profiles at all but like I said I would be lying to you. I can’t help it. At first it was every time I switched on my phone but now it’s not as often. Of course I want to know what he has been doing. He has been a big part of my life for so long so it’s natural. However, they advise you to block them! Do what you feel is best for your situation.

Have you got any tips for dealing with a relationship break or even a break up? I am currently sorting things out with Edd so fingers crossed we will be okay. Let me know in the comments.

Dr Botanicals were kind enough to send me some of their products to review however this does not affect my opinion of the products or the brand.

What’s In My Handbag

If there’s one thing that I love watching or reading – it’s the classic ‘What In My Bag’ post. I don’t know why but it is probably because I am a nosy parker and I just like knowing these things. I also really wanted to share this beautiful number that I got for Christmas from my Aunt. It’s from New Look and is absolutely gorgeous! I love the floral print on one side but I like how you can switch it round and just have the basic black side on the other. It’s such a great little number for everyday errands, whether that’s the weekly shop at the weekend or travelling to work during the week. So what have I actually got in my bag?

Starting with the essentials, I have my keys. Something that I lose the majority of the time so they have to be filled with at least five key rings so that I can find them. I have my diary because it is my bible. Every meeting, every important date and every important telephone number or contact is hidden in there. I usually go for an A5 size but this year I have went for something a little smaller. There is usually hidden vouchers for various different shops. I always carry a spare charger as well. It’s just something that has become a habit for so long now. I have an iPhone 7 Plus which usually lasts all day but you never know when you might need a charger. There’s been plenty of times my phone has ran out of juice and I have been locked outside because I have lost my key.

I have downsized my purse recently too. I used to carry around a bulky one that had space for loads of cards, coins and notes but I don’t use it all. This one is just the right size for what I need. I keep my essentials in card section (debit, ID, Superdrug points card, Paperchase card, Nandos Loyalty Card…) and my coins in the zipped section. Having a small purse also means that I need to be an adult and look after my receipts somewhere else. This means having an A4 box hidden in my desk and throwing them in every time I clear my purse out.

On the beauty front, I usually keep things quite simple. I mix it up on a weekly basis so that I can stay in control and not let my handbag become an oversized makeup bag. At the moment, I’ve got The Body Shop Strawberry Hand Cream, The Library of Fragrance Pistachio Ice Cream Perfume, Superdrug’s Dry Skin Relief Cream for dry hands and eczema and GOSH Matte Lipstick in the shade ‘Smoothie‘. It’s surprising that I haven’t got more lip products than this because I usually have half a dozen in my bag…

There are some practical bits hidden in between the two compartments too including my Tangle Teezer because it’s great for on the go, Co-Codamol, Paracetamol, Lozenges and many bobbles and hair grips.

Other essentials include my iPod Classic with my whole library collection installed, headphones which work with my iPhone but not my iPod, an out of date pass for local transport and my travel sized worry eater that Edd’s mum created for me. She is called Ellie and I love her a lot because she looks after all my worries and any business cards.

I’d love to know what little things you can’t leave your home without! Have we got anything similar?
