Ten Bloggers Who Have Smashed 2016

Ten Bloggers Who Have Smashed 2016

The blogging community has been amazing this year. It’s just full of some extremely motivational and inspiring people that has continued to grow excessively online. I’ve not met many bloggers this year, something I would love to change, but I have spoken to quite a few online. On days where I feel like utter poop, guaranteed I can go online and there will be someone waiting with some good advice or to cheer me up with their 140 character words. I don’t think I could end 2016 without sharing the ones that I go to daily for a read or to listen to what they need to say.

Lauren is definitely my favourite blogger this year. She deserves so many more followers than what she has for a number of different reasons. She is so supportive and is always there when I am feeling down or upset. I just hope that she feels as though I repay the favour sometimes. Her blog is amazing and I love reading about her mental health posts. It makes me feel as though I am not the only one dealing with anxiety and that there are other people who understand part of what you are going through on a daily basis.

I can’t write this post without mentioning my North East blogging babe, Alice. I feel as though Alice and I have really developed our friendship this year. Whenever I need some time away from a screen, or an outfit photoshoot day then Alice is always there. She works so hard on her blog, and don’t you bother questioning that because I have seen what she does behind the scenes, and she has some top notch photography skills too.

The V Nice Life is the place that I turn too for vegan friendly inspiration. Sarah has worked so hard over the past year, growing not only her blog into something fantastic for vegans to turn to but also her YouTube channel has given me so much inspiration. A couple of my favourites have been her  Cruelty Free Faves and the Vegan Weekly shopping videos. Sarah has worked super hard all year and has continually provided me without support on just about anything that I have asked Twitter this year.

Sarah’s blog is one that I have read since the very beginning. I would love to have the chance to meet Sarah one day because she is so positive and inspirational. The overall quality of her blog, especially her photography skills have grown so much since last year. Even I want to try and step my photography up a notch. Her content is so relatable and down to earth that I could sit and read her blog all day long.

Gemma Louise is one my favourite beauty bloggers that I have discovered in 2016. God only knows how she is able to take amazing photographs, write fantastic content and look after Reuben, who is just adorable! Her content is just so motivational and inspiring. I love her images, it’s close to an obsession because it’s just so beautiful and dreamy.

Brogan is one of the most down to earth vloggers that I have ever watched. She has been through so many ups and downs this year but continually smiles and works so hard for everything that comes her way. Her YouTube channel as took massive steps this year and I’ve loved watching it grow into something rather special. When I watch her vlogs and see what she goes through, it makes me feel as though I am not alone in life and that people do go through some rubbish periods. What I have learnt from Brogan this year is that I can make anything happen if I put my mind too it and that’s what I want to concentrate on next year.

Whenever I am feeling down and need a bit of a laugh, Sophie Louise is always on my screen making me smile. I don’t think I have watched one video from her all year that hasn’t made me laugh or put me in a good mood. Similar to Brogan, Sophie works so hard on her channel and I have loved watching it grow.

Hannah’s channel is one that I have come across in the back end of 2016 but she is like the internet’s big sister. I have been really enjoying her Hormone Dairies because it makes me feel normal about what us girls have to deal with when it’s that time of the month. She is so down to earth but at the same time is an inspiration to women across the internet wanting to do their own thing.

Ellie is one of my favourite YouTubers that I have come across this year. If your the type of person to really enjoy the down to earth, talking about everything kind of channels then I would highly suggest subscribing to NinkComPoop. I love watching all of her videos because they are just so natural. It shows that you don’t need any fancy lighting and to look perfect 24/7 in order to create videos. Her relationship with Adam is ridiculously cute and I really hope that I get the chance to meet her someday because she is just a beautiful human being inside and out.

Rhianna has absolutely killed 2016! I don’t even know where to begin. She looks after an inspiring Instagram that everybody is heart-eyeing after, an incredible blog with lots of down to earth content to dive your heads into, a Twitter account that is hilariously funny  and a YouTube channel which I am in love with. I don’t know about anyone else but I reckon she is the social media queen right now! Can I meet up with you over a coffee and popcorn so you can share your secrets please? Rhianna works so hard and it’s definitely paying off, I can’t wait to see what she brings to the blogosphere next year.

What blogs have you been loving this year? I would definitely give some of these girls a read/watch because they have made my year!

What I Got For Christmas 2016

I can’t quite believe that all Christmas festivities are over for another year! I am so upset and feeling a little bit lost. I always love reading and seeing what everybody got for Christmas and after asking Twitter whether I should share what I received this year or not; it seems that the feeling is mutual. If you have or you are going to be sharing yours too please leave a link in the comments so I can have a read.

I have been so lucky with Christmas presents this year! My main present this year was the Canon EOS M10 with the 22mm and the 15-45mm lens. I have had my eye on this camera for a while and I absolutely love it. It makes for a really good camera when you are wanting a DSLR quality but something small enough to take on days out. I also really like how you can transfer your pictures to your phone simply though a click of a button.

I received a snuggly blanket from Edd’s mum which is brilliant for keeping you warm during the cold nights but also doubles up as the perfect backdrop for blogging photos. So you can guess who will be really warm and toasty coming into the warmer months. While I am on the subject of blogging, Edd’s sister gifted me the Zoella Lifestyle Stationary Set which is brilliant for helping me organise my blog and posts in the new year.

I got quite a few beauty bits this year too. My most favourite being the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette from Edd. He also got me an In-Shower Body Moisturiser and the Little Snow Fairy gift set which has a miniature Snow Fairy shower gel and the Snow Fairy fun which I haven’t tried before. On the lines of Lush, my cousin and his girlfriend managed to treat me to the Butterbear gift set which includes: a Father Christmas bath bomb, a Butterbear bath bomb, the Reindeer and Robin fun and Honey I Washed The Kids soap. From my sister, she picked up a Butterbear bath bomb, Razzle Dazzle bath oil and the Sunnyside bubble bar which are some of my favourites. I also got two of the Original Source Moisturising Shower Gels – the first is in the scent Pineapple and Coconut which smells of Piña Colada and the other is in Sweet Apple and Vanilla Milk.

I also received quite a few books this year as well. The Harry Potter book set was a lovely surprise from Edd and it just makes me want to read them all for the first time properly. I also received the Monsters Inc. book from him too which is one of my favourite Disney films. I like how the storybook contains pictures from the films.

Christmas isn’t the same without a notebook or two so I was grateful to add a couple more to the collection including The Mindfulness Companion which includes quotes and adult colouring book patterns to keep you calm when your feeling stressed. I have heard about The Little Book of Hygge across many different blogs recently and although I haven’t had the chance to sit down and have a proper read yet, I am super excited to read more into it.

I absolutely love the Tsum Tsum Erasers which have now been added onto my shelf. Of course, I won’t be using them for the reason they are meant to be used. Edd also brought Scrump so I could finish my Lilo & Stitch Tsum Tsum collection. Finding Dory was also given to me by Edd. He knows me so well when it comes to Disney. It was one of the first Disney films that we watched together and so far I have watched it twice since Christmas Day, oops! I have also started collecting Harry Potter Pop! Figures so I was surprised to see Albus Dumbledore.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without receiving at least one pair of socks, right?! Well I got some really cute fluffy socks from Edd in my stocking which have those grips on which means no more slipping over in the kitchen. I also received a pair from my mum which were really festive and some popcorn style ones from Edd’s parents. I got quite a lot of chocolatey treats from various people this year as well including the Mini Moo selection box with four different chocolate bars, some Freefrom chocolate coins and gingerbread biscuits and a lovely box of Hotel Chocolat Tasting Club chocolates. They taste so good! I’m now off to indulge on more food and watch films all afternoon.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

Ten Bloggers Who Have Smashed 2016

Merry Christmas

Hey there! If your reading this then you will have probably slipped away from the family and all the socialising to catch up with blogs or perhaps you are reading this later in which case I hope you had a lovely Christmas.

How have you spent your Christmas Day? I hope you have had a good day! I am currently sat in my new dressing gown and pyjamas, writing this post with a box of Hotel Chocolates and a Bailey’s Hot Chocolate. I am thinking of catching up with YouTube or perhaps cracking a Christmas film on. I am rather happy with my situation right now though.

Christmas is about the time you spend with your family and friends, and although today has been really nice – it just isn’t the same without my sister, mum and Noel being around me. I have ate far too many yorkshire puddings and chocolate flavoured things but I really don’t care. It’s acceptable, ain’t it! Did anyone else watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets today? It was on ITV and I really enjoyed watching it whilst opening presents and spending time with Edd’s family.

Merry Christmas to you all and I hope you have had a fabulous day!

Christmas Eve

Your probably sat reading this whilst snuggled in bed or cuddled up by the fire with a hot chocolate in one hand and munching on your favourite box of chocolates. I can’t quite believe that it’s Christmas tomorrow! I could sit here and take up five minutes of your time reminiscing about how fast this year has gone but I think everyone already knows that.

Personally, I think that Christmas Eve is much better than the big day anyway. Ever since I can remember, I have always got new pyjamas for the evening. This year is some lovely Disney ones which are probably going to feature on Instagram at least once this weekend. They are super cosy and really light so I could get away with wearing them during the other months too. Other than this Christmas Eve tradition, it’s actually my first year where I am not spending the day with my family. I am with Edd all weekend which I am looking forward too but at the same time I am missing Noel, my sister and my mum so much! WE have however created a couple of traditions which I am hoping will stick with us. The first being an afternoon with Christmas films and a mixed box of chocolates. This year it’s Miracle on 34th Street that neither of us have watched before but I can definitely say it is such a good film. We brought Quality Street and Celebrations to have whilst snuggled in front of the fire. Has anyone had the new Honeycomb Crunch?! It tastes amazing!

I’ve had such a lazy day to be honest. I have took the dogs for a walk along the beach, went round to my Aunt’s for a Christmas buffet and now I am snuggled in bed waiting for Edd and Santa to come home/visit. I had the most amazing bath earlier too. I used Golden Wonder and one of my last Error 404 bath bombs; blended together and it smells incredible. I also used the Bubbly Shower Gel because you should all know by now that it is my favourite one from the releases this year. I decided to treat myself to a face mask whilst in the bath too. The one I used is the Botanicals Revitalising Renewal Mask. Finally, I’ve painted my nails with this lovely rose gold Barry M Nail Paint in the shade Twinkle Twinkle. It’s going to be perfect with my lazy Christmas outfit, I think. I am probably going to spend the rest of my night just catching up on my favourite YouTube channels and blogs from this week.

I hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow and some much needed family time! How do you spend your Christmas Eve?

The Vegan Edit: Banana And Chocolate Chip Bread Recipe

Ever since reading Lauren’s banana bread post, I have been craving it so much however confession time: I have never baked anything other than biscuits and cupcakes so attempting a loaf is something very out of the ordinary to me and I was really nervous. I followed the recipe that Lauren shared but changed it slightly. It is so easy, tastes delicious and I highly recommend trying it! Keep on reading for the recipe…

Ingredients:

3 bananas, mashed

100g light brown sugar

75ml vegetable oil

225g self raising flour

2 tsp baking powder

2 tsp cinnamon

2 tbsp of nut milk (I used Hemp)

dark chocolate chips

Method:

1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Grease your loaf tin with dairy-free butter or line with baking parchment.

2. Peel your bananas, pop them into a large bowl and start mashing them using a fork. I left mine quite lumpy however you can mash them to the consistency that is desired.

3. Add your brown sugar and vegetable oil and mix until combined.

4. You then want to add all your dry ingredients in small doses and then fold into the mixture. This is to add air into the mixture which I have heard is good and helps it to rise in the oven. I added the milk into the mixture now because it was resembling cookie dough and then added as many chocolate chips as I wanted.

5. Pour the mix evenly into the loaf tin and bake for 50 minutes in the middle of the oven. It should be golden brown on the top and as with any cake the skewer should come out clean. Wait for it too cool before cutting or just grab a piece while it is still warm. I am not sure how long it lasts however this was eaten within two days anyway…

So there you have it. It didn’t take long at all and during the cooking time, I helped Edd wrap presents which really helped to pass the time. Even if you aren’t the best baker in the world, guaranteed you are able to bake this delicious treat.

Have you baked banana bread before? Let me know if you decide to use this recipe and what you think.
