June’s Lush Kitchen Round Up

June’s Lush Kitchen Round Up

It’s been one of those months where the Lush Kitchen has released menus that has made me want just about everything that has been mentioned. Luckily enough for my bank account it hasn’t been a bad month however deep down I’m secretly crying that I didn’t get my hands on some other things. Anyway I thought I would share with you what I did pick up…

IMG_4201

This month I picked up four bath bombs which I am super excited to use over the summer. The Sicilian (the yellow one) and Phuket (the orange one) are rather similar as they both contain Brazilian orange oil which helps uplift your mind and body however the scents are still extremely different from each other. The Sicilian reminds me of lemon sherbet sweets as it also contains tangerine, mandarin, bergamot and neroli oils. There is also dried orange slices within the both bomb so I am intrigued to find out what happens when dropped in the bath. On the other hand, Phuket has coconut cream within the formula so I can imagine it will be really nourishing on the skin. The scent of Phuket smells as though you are walking along a tropical beach, just like heaven eh?! I also picked up the Ching Ling Soo bath bomb (the peach one) which smells amazing considering it has few ingredients. The main ingredient is tangerine oil which gives the bath bomb a lovely orange scent. It’s perfect for cheering you up when your feeling down. Finally, I chose Fox In The Flowers in the hope that it helps going to sleep a lot easier. The ingredients include: lavender absolute, Roman Chamomile flowers, rosebuds, blue mallow flowers and lime tree flowers. It smells so fresh and I think it would go perfectly with the Grass Shower Gel that I picked up last month.

There was quite a range of shower products that I wanted to snap up too. Avoshower was the first on my list as I’ve heard so many good things about it over social media. As you can probably guess, Avoshower has avocado and bergamot oils in the formula and it smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I highly recommend grabbing a bottle next time it’s on the Kitchen as it definitely lives up to it’s name. My skin felt extremely moisturised and nourished after showering this. To tell you a secret, I couldn’t stop rubbing up and down my legs because they were so soft. The other shower gel I picked up was Ginger. I thought it was a product worth trying because it has fresh ginger root in which is rather unusual. The scent smells so calm and relaxing. Although I haven’t used this gel yet, I can imagine it would be really nice to use in the evening when you are winding out after a stressful/busy day.

I have been wanting to try the ‘Dear John’ scent for quite a while so when I saw the Dear John Bubble Bar pop up on the Lush Kitchen, I knew I had to grab my hands on one. The scent is so unusual but I can’t really decide whether I like it or not. It’s quite a spicy, woody scent but seems as though it would be quite relaxing. The formula includes ground coffee which is such a good natural exfoliant for the skin. Last but certainly not least, I picked up a bottle of the Lush Lime Shower Smoothie which smells like Sunny Delight in a bottle. It has a lot of summery scents including: grapefruit oil, orange flower absolute, fresh strawberries and orange lime juice as well as a lot of moisturising and nourishing ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil, almond oil and coconut oil which are all lovely on dry skin.

Have you picked up anything from the Lush Kitchen? Let me know your thoughts if you managed to grab any of these.

Birthday Wishlist

I like July. July is definitely my favourite month. It used to be down to the fact that school finished for the Summer holidays. All of the coursework for college needed to be handed in and you didn’t need to think about it again until September. But all of that is insignificant because my birthday is more important! It’s on Friday, by the way...

I’ve had my eyes on a lot of things this year but for the past two weeks, I have stopped myself from spending any money unless I really needed it like deodorant or chocolate. Every girl needs chocolate, okay?! Of course all I really want is to spend the day or, in this case, weekend with my family and Edd having a lovely time and eating a lot of cake but your not human if your not wanting something materialistic. I thought I would put together some kind of wishlist of all the expensive things that I really really want but probably won’t have the guts to ask for because I’m nice like that.

Birthday Wishlist

Of course the first thing that springs to mind is a holiday somewhere in Greece where it’s lovely and hot and I can spend my time sipping cocktails alongside the pool but I reckon this is a long shot as I’m saving every spare penny to move out or to finally learn how to drive. I’ve never really been a reader up until this past year or so when I have really loved buying books and reading them. Most of you are probably going to be shocked by this statement but I have never read any of the Harry Potter books. I remember getting them when I was younger but never read them. The ones I have currently are really old and worn out so I’ve been after a new box set for a while now. The other miscellaneous item that I have on my wishlist is the Little Miss Blogger mug, I don’t know why but I just love it. There’s quite a few makeup bits that is on my wishlist too. These include the oh-so-famous Better Than Sex mascara, the Chocolate Bon Bons eyeshadow palette and the Zoeva Rose Gold Brush Set.

I have been wanting a watch for as long as I can remember! I did like the classic rose gold Michael Kors style watch until I came across this little Olivia Burton number back in March. I love the woodland bunny illustration on the face of the watch but the next best thing is that it has a vegan friendly synthetic leather strap. It’s absolutely beautiful! The other watch that I have been looking at is, of course, Rose Gold iWatch. This is probably the gadget side of my personality coming out but I just love the idea of being able to pay for something with your watch or text someone form it. I’ve been told you can even look down Twitter from you watch! I can remember talking about it last year in a seminar at University and not being to keen on the idea but for the past six months, I haven’t been able to go into an Apple store without having a play around with one.

Finally, I’ve been thinking of investing in a new camera for quite a while now. I love my Canon 600D but I’ve had it for the past three years now and it’s really starting to show. The automatic flash doesn’t work. I’ve lost the cover to my original lens and the viewfinder is all horribly dirty. I’ve been thinking about simply upgrading it to the Canon 700D but I’m not sure whether I’m ready for that yet. Over the years of running my blog, I have fell in love with photography and learning more about using manual settings so it might be worth the investment.

Is there anything on your wishlist at the moment? Let me know in the comments below.

The Sunday Post: Cupcakes And The EU Referendum

IMG_4245

So being full of cold has kicked my little bum all over again this week. Luckily enough the doctors have gave me antibiotics which I have been taking all week and they finally, after nearly 4 months of endless appointments, sent me for an x-ray to just double check they aren’t missing anything. Apart from that not much else has happened this week.

This morning I saw Amy’s Eton Mess Cupcake Recipe and wanted to re-create them. They were delicious!! It’s just a perfect summer treat to have whilst relaxing in the ‘summer’ sun. Whilst writing this I can currently hear the raindrops hitting my windows outside. I haven’t made cupcakes for a while so it was a lovely activity this afternoon. Note to self: never take flat lay photos from the top of the garden table, you will hurt yourself in one way or another. In case you don’t follow me on snapchat or have a clue what I am on about. I fell off the garden table while taking the above photo and bruised all my arm. It hurt so much!

For those who have been living under a rock all week, it has been the EU Referendum and I don’t know about anyone else who has been keeping update with it all but I was pretty shocked by the decision to leave the EU. I know that a lot of young people are now going to have to suffer the consequences but I am sure we can manage it. I was just so shocked that we, as a country, could be so selfish about leaving a community that has worked hand in hand for the past 43 years. Without getting into a huge political debate, what are your thoughts about Britian leaving the EU? I would love to know.

How’s your Sunday been? I’m off to watch another episode of Orange Is The New Black. Has anyone else been watching it? I am really enjoying the series so far. #nospoilers

Bomb Cosmetics Review

IMG_4057

You would just need to take one look down my Instagram page to understand how much I love a good bath but nothing is better than a lovely bath product whether that be bath bomb, salts or bubble bath to put in to make it bubbly, glittery and smelling amazing. Naturally, I was jumping for joy to find out that there was a Bomb Cosmetics stand in one of the cute gift shops when I went to Centre Parcs earlier this year. You can read more on that here. I couldn’t help myself and ended up spending quite a bit of money…

IMG_4067

The first thing I noticed was the Cherry Bakewell Candle and oh my it smells amazing! Can anyone remember those cherry drop sweets? Well that’s what I think about every time a sniff the candle. I have started to burn this every time I’m feeling a bit down as the scent is so uplifting and lingers in the atmosphere for so long. Usually I can wake up the following morning after burning the candle on the evening and still smell the sweet, cherry scent in the air.

The bath mallows is what caught my eye next. I love how cute and dinky they were and found them extremely softening on my terribly dry skin. Chasing Rainbows has a lovely mix of pure butters, patchouli and clary sage essential oils as well as fruit notes of blueberries and black grapes whereas Sweet contained ylang ylang and chamomile essential oils which made the bath really relaxing after restless night sleep or a busy day. The bath mallows contain cocoa butter which means they are brilliant for dry and sensitive skin and fizz slowly in the water.

I also picked up Cherry Aid Brûlée which is similar to a bubble bar from Lush as it can be used up to six times, however I just dropped the whole entire thing in. Similar to the bath mallows, it had bergamot and chamomile essential oils to help you relax and drift of to sleep after having a bath as well as natural butters to soothe sensitive skin. Although it didn’t do much in the terms of a stunning bath display or anything, it left my skin feeling super soft and moisturised. The scent was extremely creamy and it felt very luxurious on the skin.

I picked up four of the bath blasters which were: Bomb-Jamin Button, Night Owl, Raspberry Pav-lover and Strawberry Sunrise which all smelt so good.

Raspberry Pav-Lover Bath Blaster – £2.99

Raspberry Pav-Lover had a lovely raspberry, fruity fragrance with cocoa butter to make your skin feel moisturised and soft. The ylang ylang and bergamot oils uplifted your mood and the sweet scent lingered in the bathroom all day after I used this one. It fizzed really quick and made my skin feel soft however unlike the Lush bath bombs it didn’t make a huge performance in the bath.

Bomb-Jamie Button Bath Blaster – £2.99

Bomb-Jamin Button had clary sage and cedarwood essential oils that help uplift your mood. Much like Raspberry Pav-Lover, it made my skin feel super soft and nourished and this one turned the bath water a beautiful shade of lilac.

I haven’t used Night Owl which has rosemary and lavender essential oils which I think will be amazing when I am struggling to sleep. It also has a white musk scent to it making you feel relaxed. Nor have I used Strawberry Sunrise which has much more of an orange scent with the pure mandarin and neroli oils to help uplift your mood. I picked this one up as I thought it would unusual to the bath bombs that I usually get from Lush however I was a little bit disappointed that it didn’t smell of strawberries. I will be sure to let you know my thoughts when I have used both of these.

Overall, I really liked the bath bombs from Bomb Cosmetics however personally I would choose Lush over them. I think any of their products would make a lovely gift for someone as they don’t just offer customers bath bombs. The candles last for such a long time so I would definitely consider buying another one in the future. They are a really affordable brand so they would be your best friend if your on a budget like me and their customer service team is lovely too. Oh and did I tell you that they were cruelty free? Well, they are.

Graze Box

IMG_4178

Graze box has recently become my new favourite thing. I get so many vouchers and ads about them and finally got round to subscribing to them. I have been receiving them for the past six weeks now and have received a lovely supply of healthy snacks, both savoury and sweet so I thought it is about time that I wrote about my thoughts.

You can choose to get them delivered to your door every week, fortnight or monthly and the boxes are £3.99 per box however you can obviously use vouchers to get them cheaper or for free. Once you signed up, you can select whether you have an allergy or certain dietary requirement which I think is so useful so I got rid of all the spicy snacks because I don’t like hot food and meat flavoured snacks because I’m a vegetarian.

I receive the ‘variety‘ box which means I get a selection of everything but usually there is two savoury snacks and two sweet snacks however if you are wanting an extra special treat then you can select the ‘chocolate‘ box if you really like one. All the snacks that I have tried so far have been delicious however my favourites have been the Cherry & Chocolate Protein Topper which had cocoa granola, chopped hazelnuts, freeze-dried cherry pieces and soya protein crisps. It was so good. I had it with the Alpro Dark Chocolate yogurts and it tasted delicious! I also really enjoyed the New York Everything Bagel which was poppyseed and onion sesame sticks and Honeycomb Flapjack which was rustic rolled oat flapjack with honeycomb and chocolate drizzle. These were both equally delicious.

Another service that Graze offer is the ability to ‘bin‘ a snack that you didn’t like or ‘like‘ or ‘love‘ a snack that you really liked so you may get it in another box in the future. You can also tick the ‘send soon‘ box if you want to have it in your next box. You can also get your 1st, 5th and 10th box free by using this code: QJWD2WMTB.

Overall, I love the Graze box service and don’t see myself cancelling it any time soon. It encourages me to stop snacking on unhealthy bars of chocolate and whole tubs of Pringles while blogging or looking for jobs. They are so handy to throw in your bag on your way to university or work as well. It’s really easy to change any of your settings for example: changing your address or stopping the service while your on holiday.

Have you tried Graze before? What’s your thoughts. Let me know what your favourite Graze snack is.
