Coconut Lane Haul

Coconut Lane Haul

If you follow me on Twitter then you will have probably seen me go on about Coconut Lane for a while now so after being accepted as a Coconut Queen, I decided to treat myself to a little something. Coconut Lane is a lovely company that offers lovely pieces of jewellery, homeware, phone cases and ideal gifts at a reasonable price. It was hard to narrow down my wish list at the basket but the items that I picked are lovely. The products arrived within two days of ordering from the website and their customer service is amazing, especially across social media.

Coconut Lane

Firstly is this gorgeous summer themed phone case which has a mixture of silver stars, glitter and blue and pink sand. The case itself is soft and flexible but still protects your phone from scratches and falls.

Coconut Lane

I am a lover of anything related to infinity symbols so I just had to pick up the infinity bracelet. It has lovely gold detailing and is really affordable. It’s not to tight on my wrists and offers something slightly different than my Thomas Sabo bracelet which I wear most of the time.

Coconut Lane

The last thing I picked up was the “I’m A Blogger” wall art which was one of the first items I saw when I came across the company. The wall art is printed on luxury A4 card and comes without a frame so you can choose how you want to display it. At the moment it’s displayed on my desk with magnets while I’m waiting for another Ikea trip to get a frame.

Have you ever brought anything from Coconut Lane before? What’s your favourite product from my haul? I also have a lovely 20% of code for all my readers – just type in ‘julyjournal20‘ at the checkout.

MakeUp Revolution’s Focus And Fix Concealer Review

Make Up Revolution Focus & Fix Concealer

Everyone who I know in the beauty blogosphere uses Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer. Seriously, everyone. I was included in this selection until I picked up MakeUp Revolution’s Focus & Fix Concealer which has well and truly changed my life! You may think that I am exaggerating here but I really am not and for any of those who have tried it you might understand what I’m talking about. For those of you who haven’t: run out to the nearest Superdrug, pick one up, try it for a week then let me know what you think.

Make Up Revolution Focus & Fix Concealer

As stated on the MakeUp Revolution website, the concealer claims to: “hide and conceal, from dark circles to blemishes” and I couldn’t agree more.

Not only is this little number cruelty free; it fixes those dark circles and other imperfections much better than the oh-so-famous Lasting Perfection Concealer. The really creamy formula makes it easy to blend with your finger, makeup brush or beauty blender. It’s brilliant for concealing spots…even those horrible pesty ones that just won’t disappear and I have found that is is long wearing too. I’ve had it on all day, went swimming and my dark circles were still concealed when I got out of the swimming pool. It gives your skin such a natural finish and brightens the corners of my eyes up nicely making them look more awake. In comparison with the Lasting Perfection, Focus & Fix is available in six different shades whereas it’s competitor is only available in four. Another positive factor is that it’s half the price of the Collection’s Lasting Perfection, brilliant for any one on a budget. Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything to complain about and from my experience with the Focus & Fix concealer, it makes me eager to try more products from the brand as well as trust them with their claims on what products can do.

Have you tried anything from MakeUp Revolution before? What’s your thoughts on the Focus & Fix Concealer? Let me know in the comments what I should pick up next from the brand.

The Sunday Post: Penny Date Challenge

Seaton Sluice

Anyone else been feeling positive and happy lately?! It makes a change for me cause usually I’m best at feeling anxious and watching endless amounts of Disney films, Gossip Girl and Geordie Shore. It’s Saturday evening and I am snuggled up in bed after having a really good amazing afternoon with Edd. We attempted Hannah’s Penny Date Challenge. If your unsure what I am going on about then it’s when you pick a number between 10 and 20; this is going to be the amount of times you flip your penny. Get yourselves ready for a journey and at every junction you flip your coin. Heads is left and tails is right. After tossing the penny 15 times (that’s the number we chose) and getting a fair few right turns, we ended up  five miles down the round and stuck in an industrial estate – not what we had planned but it was a lot of fun. Edd may have got a speeding fine due to lack of signage and I learnt that I couldn’t flip a coin without it going missing in the back of Edd’s car but overall it was a lot of fun and I highly recommend giving it a go.

The Kings Arms

The Kings Arms

We ended the day off with a late pub lunch at The King’s Arms, Seaton Sluice. I had these spicy cajun cod bites with chips and Edd had a cheese burger with onion rings and chips. Overall, the service wasn’t too bad even though the pub was extremely busy and the food tasted great. As a side note and a little update, the doctors have said that my low iron has nothing to do with my diet so I can go back to being a vegan again which I am so unbelievably happy and excited about – cue experimental meal recipes!

Have you ever went on a date where you just drove and landed somewhere nice? Have you got any unusual date ideas for me and Edd to try out next? Let me know if you would like me to share any recipes that I try out with you.

Easter’s Lush Kitchen Round Up

Easter Lush Kitchen Round Up

For Easter, Edd kindly treated me to a couple of bits from the Lush Kitchen when they released limited edition products. I thought I could let you know my opinions on them and show off some of the products. You know your boyfriend is a keeper when he knows his stuff, right?!

He treated me to Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bath Bomb, Choccy Egg Bath Bomb and Egg Hunt Soap.

Easter Lush Kitchen Round Up

Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bath Bomb

Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bath Bomb

Somewhere Over The Rainbow is the bath bomb that I was the most excited about using. It’s made of Sicilian mandarin and uplifting neroli oils. Not only did it smell amazing and uplifted my mood but the explosion of pastel themed colours were gorgeous. The bath bomb included a range of lustres that glistened in the bath water. The scent lingered in the bathroom the following day which was a lovely surprise. If it’s around next year, I highly recommend you picking one up to give it a go.

Easter Lush Kitchen Round Up

Choccy Egg Bath Bomb

Choccy Egg was the one bath bomb that I needed to get my hands on during Easter week at the Lush Kitchen although when it came it was my least favourite, to my surprise. I found the scent very strong and overwhelming at first but once it started fizzing away in the bath it smelt so relaxing and calming. Although it’s not the most interesting of bath bombs to watch, it is packed full of ingredients, such as Cocoa, Aloe Vera Extract and Fair Trade Vanilla, that are all brilliant for softening and moisturising the skin. Aloe Vera is also a cooling agent so if you suffer from dry skin or eczema, it will work a treat. Before they melted, I liked how the shavings of Cocoa floated round the bottom of the bath tub instead of just staying in once place too.

Last but not least is the Egg Hunt Soap. The soap is extremely uplifting and personally, it smells of what Spring should smell like. It has a lovely blend of Bergamot, Sicilian Lemon and Floral Violet Leaf which leaves it smelling of raspberries! This fruity treat is something that has helped me feel awake and ready for the days ahead recently. Similar to all Lush soaps, it lathers up really well and the scent lingers on your body for ages – even my Aunt has said how nice it smells on her hands the day after she used it.

Did you manage to pick up any of the Lush Kitchen items over Easter? What was your favourite product from the Easter range this year? Let me know in the comments.

March 2016 Loot Crate Review

Loot Crate March 2016

Loot Crate March 2016

I’m so excited to share this unboxing with you. Before I tell you about what I received, I thought I would share a bit of information about the company. Loot Crate is a monthly subscription service where they send exclusive collectibles, t-shirts, gadgets and more to your door for £20 a month ($19.95) with shipping. The boxes are aimed at gamers, geeks and fans of pop culture and usually have a $45+ value in every crate. Each month has a theme; this month’s was Versus. So, what did they send me?

Mirror Mirror T-Shirt

The t-shirt features a striking red, black and yellow bring too Spock face-to-face with his goateed doppelgänger from the Mirror Universe. I really like the print of the t-shirt however it doesn’t fit me. I decided to go for women’s x large cause I like baggy t-shirts however it is like a UK size 12, so if your anything like me I would recommend a men’s large t-shirt instead. I am hoping that it will fit me when I’ve lost a bit of weight though.

Exclusive Daredevil/Punisher Reversible Beanie

I love the beanie when I saw it. I think it’s going to be perfect for bad hair days or keeping my ears warm during winter. One side is red with Daredevil’s “DD” symbol and the other side is black with the Punisher’s skull symbol.

Exclusive Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Mighty Wallet

In the hope to start saving for important adult life things, receiving this wallet will help me in this quest. I love the images of Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Unfortunately there’s no where to keep change however there is space for notes and those business cards that you never know where to keep them.

Exclusive Alien Vs. Predator Vinyl Figure

Blind boxes are something that I quite enjoy opening as you have a surprise to which one you receive. There was a choice of an Alien xenomorph with glow-in-the-dark deco or Predator. I’m not a massive fan of Alien Vs. Predator but I’m happy to have received Predator out of the two. When Edd opened his blind box, he received the Alien so it’s nice that we have one of each.

Exclusive Harley Quinn Comic Book

The comic book is definitely my favourite product that I received. The comic was exclusively created for Loot Crate and I really enjoyed reading it.

The great thing about Loot Crate is that you can turn the box inside out for you to put on display and you receive a pin for that month’s box. You can cancel it at anytime and there’s a choice of boxes that you can receive. These include: Loot Crate, Loot Crate DX, Loot Anime, Loot Pets, Loot Gaming, Firefly and Lvl Up. Considering the box is delivered from America, the service is rather quick. The box arrived on my door after two and a half weeks. Overall, I love the items I received this month however I would probably prefer the Loot Anime rather that the original.

Have you tried Loot Crate before? What’s your thoughts? Do you receive any subscription boxes every month? Let me know in the comments below.
