The Sunday Post: Introducing My Nephew

I never really knew what love felt like until recently. I’ve met Noel, my baby nephew, twice now and he really has stolen my heart. He is the first little addition to the family in such a long time but has become the most special family member ever. He is so special that I wanted to make a post dedicated to him because he is special to me.

Introducing My Nephew

For those of you who are interested, he was born weighing in at 7lb 5oz at about 3.30pm in the afternoon around Christmas time. I wish I could see him a lot more but my sister and I live in different parts of the country. I was so surprised how alert he was the last time I saw him and I love seeing all of the photos and videos of him on What’s App. I can’t wait to see him again!

Have you got any nephews or nieces? Do you see them often?

‘What I Got My Boyfriend For His Birthday’

Firstly can everyone go and say a massive Happy Birthday to Edd, it will make him very happy!

Now, I know that this isn’t related to anything I usually talk about on my little corner of the internet however I am assuming that most of you will have a man in your life. Whether that be your boyfriend, husband, brother or father and it will come a time when you need ideas or hints on what to get them for their birthday or Christmas. I read Lauren’s ‘What I Got My Boyfriend For Christmas‘ post and I thought I would do something similar for Edd’s birthday just to help my lovely readers out in future situations.

His main present is a trip to Edinburgh next week. I am sure if you follow me on social media you have probably heard a lot about it. I can’t wait to just spend some quality time with him and explore Edinburgh all over again. However, because I am the best girlfriend ever I thought I would get him a few little gifts as well.

What I Got My Boyfriend For His Birthday

He actually sent me a list of presents that he would like which I chose a few from. These were: the Pop! Arkham Knight Scarecrow, Batman: The Long Halloween and the Studio Matryoshka Dolls. The rest of the gifts are what I picked out myself in the hope that he likes them.

Fun fact: Before we started going out, he came round to mine and we watched Batman all afternoon so it was only right that I brought him Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology. I can’t wait to start watching them with him later tonight because I haven’t seen them myself. I always so him the Justice League Duvet Set because he hasn’t got any other duvet sets other than these boring black and white ones. They have all his favourite characters and logos on and hopefully it will make his bedroom look a bit more colourful!

Edd loves building and creating things. Seriously, he is like a big kid in a grown mans body but I’m okay with that because we are on the same level as each other. I decided to get him one of the Lego Nexo Knights. He can build it up and then fight against other players using an app on his phone or iPad. I thought this was such a cool idea and he can start collecting them too. I also got him the green Puzzleman after his dog, Bailey, killed his previous one. In addition, I got him some Cadbury’s Mini Eggs, Superdrug’s Blood Orange & Ginger Hair and Body Wash and a Peter Rabbit keyring with the letter ‘E’ on it which I managed to sneak into my basket when we went to The World of Beatrix Potter.

Personally, I love reading posts like this. I find them so useful when it comes to birthdays and Christmas. What do you get your boyfriend for his birthday? Let me know in the comments.

A Valentine’s Lush Kitchen Haul

Now we all know that the season of love, also known as Valentines, is well and truly over however I wanted to share with you what I’ve brought from the Lush Kitchen around Valentines. Those extremely Lush Kitchen addicts will know that most of last year’s products were put in the Kitchen this year so I’ve went all out!

Lush Kitchen Valentines Haul

Let’s start with the classics! You’ve probably all seen Love Locket and the Heart Throb Bubbleroon. Love Locket is the one that can be separated into three different baths. It contains a Neroli Oil centre that is used to help lift your mood whereas the outer heart is sweet and calming as the ingredients include Jasmine and Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute. They have also added red edible hearts, pink heart confetti and a mix of lustre. On the other hand the Heart Throb Bubbleroon is extremely moisturising as it contains Shea Butter and Cream of Tartar. It has a lovely sweet scent to it due to the Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute and Sicilian Lemon Oils. I think the both of them combined would make for a lovely bath cocktail too!

The first product I wanted to talk about was the Sex ‘N’ The Shower Emotibomb  which is the white bath bomb with a little hand engraved on it. I have never brought an Emotibomb from Lush before but if you live in student halls or have no access to a bath this might be something that works for you. According to Lush, emotibombs are designed to work similar to a bath bomb. You add one of these to the floor by your feet, go through your usually shower routine and it’ll fizz away whilst releasing the cloud of fragrant steam. It is meant to alter your mood depending on the purpose of your chosen emotibomb so as you can probably tell I have high hopes for this one. The emotibomb itself is a rather sweet and floral scent. It’s jam packed full of oils including: Ginger, Ylang Ylang, Rose, Geranium and Juniperberry which is why I like it so much. I feel like this is going to be perfect when I don’t have time for a bath but feel like I need to keep calm for certain situations.

The Ex Factor Bath Bomb who is the little blue man smells like all the goodness rolled in one. He is an amazing sweet scented bomb that smells like Vanilla and Ylang Ylang. If you like the classic Snow Fairy scent then you would probably be kicking yourself about not picking up one of these. At least he isn’t your actually ex and you can enjoy him for what he is worth! Next up is the Limited Edition Tisty Tosty which has the same floral scent as the classic one but with the added colour bonus. Does anyone else think they should make it baby pink anyway?!

The Romance In A Stone Bath Bomb which is the mini bath bomb with Rosebud petals smells extremely different compared to the others featured in this post. It smells fresh and more floral than the others however it still has a handful of uplifting ingredients including: Orange Blossom, Sweet Wild Orange Oil, Sicilian Mandarin Oil and Tangerine Oil. I think this bath bomb is going to a lovely one to use as part of your pamper evening. Finally, I picked up Youki-Hi Bath Bomb which is actually part of the Chinese New Year festivities however I did order it around the same time as Valentine’s Day. This is another floral addition with a strong scent from Jasmine Absolute and Ylang Ylang Oil.

Did you pick up anything from the Kitchen for Valentines? What’s your favourite?

The Sunday Post: LUSH Carlisle Spring Event

LUSH Carlisle Bloggers Event

Somewhere Over The Rainbow Soap, £4.25 per 100g

On Friday, Edd and I headed across the country for the Lush Carlisle bloggers event to check out all the Easter goodies (that won’t make us fat and feel guilty about ourselves). The lovely girls even gave us a chance to make a couple of our own products!

Humpty Dumpty, £6.95

Humpty Dumpty is one of the new bath bombs added to the collection this year. Similar to Which Came First?, Humpty Dumpty can be split into a maximum of three baths, or you could just use the whole thing in one. When it’s cracked open, it reveals a tiny little egg which I think would be a perfect match to go with one of the bubble bars in the collection. The bath bomb contains bergamot and Brazilian orange oil which is bound to crack a smile out of you when your feeling down!

Ultraviolet Bubble Bar, £4.25

Next up is a returning product from last year and my personal fave; the Ultraviolet Bubble Bar. As told by Chelsea, one of the lovely girls explaining and showcasing us the products, Ultraviolet is meant to represent the dark side of the rainbow. This sweet floral treat is packed full of Violet and Jasmine Absolute, Rosewood Oil and Ylang Ylang Oil but in simple terms the scent is extremely similar to Parma Violet sweets.

LUSH Carlisle Bloggers Event

Bunch of Carrots, £6.25

A Bunch of Carrots is back but with a little twist. The colours of the carrots are distinctively different from last year but I think that’s why I personally love them. You could use them all together or separate from each other. Each carrot can be used up to five times so you are essentially getting nearly 15 baths out of them which is insane! The ingredients include Buchu, Lemon and Grapefruit Oils as well as Cream of Tartar which helps to soften the skin. I think without this Easter staple, life at Lush just wouldn’t be the same.

Fluffy Egg, £2.95

Golden Egg, £3.95

Fluffy Egg and Golden Egg are another of Lush’s Easter classics. Fluffy Egg has the irresistible scent of Snow Fairy from the Christmas collection which is perfect for me because both Magic Wand and Candy Mountain have ran out until later this year. The candy floss scent lingers across your body for the following 24hrs and is definitely one of my favourite scents! Whereas Golden Egg is there to add some sparkle to your day. Packed with cocoa butter and olive oil for the soft and moisturising effects and bergamot and wild orange oils to uplift your mood, it’s bound to make your day eggcellent!

Which Came First? Bath Bomb, £6.95

Last but not least is Which Came First?, previously known as Immaculate Eggception last year. As always it can be cracked open for you to use in three separate baths or you can be greedy and use the whole entire egg. This year it reveals an adorable chick inside which I think is so cute! Similar to other products in the collection, it’s packed full of Lemon and Grapefruit Oils to uplift your mood and Vanilla Absolute for that added extra sweetness. I loved seeing the colours blend together during the demo however the final shade that the bath may turn has made me want to use the little chick separate from the egg itself as it’s similar to the Experimenter.

After watching all the demos and listening to the lovely girls enthusiastically talk about all the new additions it was time to start making our own products and get our hands dirty. First on the list was Creamy Candy Bubble Bar which is one of my favourites. Can any Lush fans guess why? Yes, it smells like Snow Fairy goodness! We were given quite a lot of product to play with so I halved mine and attempted to make a replica of the product itself and a Fluffy Egg’ version. I would love to know what you think though!

We also made Angels On Bare Skin which is one of my favourite cleansers. If you have dry and sensitive skin then this is the one for you because it has lavender oil and rose absolute that is brilliant for calming the skin, kaolin to absorb the grease and dirt and ground almonds that turn into almond milk when mixed to a paste. This helps to tone and brighten the skin. I have made this product previously so if your interested in how to make the product itself you can read more in-depth information here.

Before we left there was a chance to get a lovely hand massage with Angels on Bare Skin and Dream Cream which are my ultimate faves when my eczema flares up on my hands. Honestly, this combination of products is brilliant and I would really recommend you trying them out if you have dry skin too!

To summarise, I am so happy that we travelled across the country. I have met some amazing girls who work at the Carlisle store as well as having a lovely time. The thing that I am most proud of though is combating that anxiety and doing something out of my comfort zone!

Have you been to any Lush events before? Let me know what your favourite Easter product is this year!

The Dirty Vegan’s Strawberry Cupcake Bath Bomb Review*

The Dirty Vegans Strawberry

The Dirty Vegans have quickly became a brand that I have fell head over heels in love with. When they kindly gifted me their Strawberry Cupcake Bath Bomb, I couldn’t wait to use it. I love how their bath bombs actually look like mini cupcakes and with the added heart to make it look so adorable. It almost looked to good to use however I was intrigued with the unusual scent.

The Dirty Vegans Strawberry

As I have previously mentioned, The Dirty Vegans haven’t made their bath bombs stand out with extravagant displays but more to do with the helpful qualities from the ingredients. Similar to the others that I have tried, Strawberry Cupcake contains cocoa butter to leave you with soft and moisturised skin. The strawberry/blueberry scent lingered in the environment and on your skin for at least a day afterwards. I love using The Dirty Vegans products because they are so different from what Lush offer (although I do love Lush too)!

Have you tried The Dirty Vegans products yet? What’s your thoughts?

This product was kindly gifted to me from the guys at The Dirty Vegans however this does not affect my opinions and thoughts on the product.
