The Sunday Post: Date Night At Pizza Express

Pizza Express

Date nights are my favourite thing to look forward to. They don’t need to be expensive, they just need to be about spending quality time with your favourite person in the world to talk about life. Before Christmas, Edd and I headed to Pizza Express whilst we were doing all of our shopping. I have never tried Pizza Express before but being a student we managed to get 20% off the food bill so it worked out to be rather affordable for the both of us.

Pizza Express

We were so hungry that we skipped the starters and headed straight onto the mains. I decided to have Romana Padana which was topped with Goat’s cheese, caramelised onions, spinach and red onions. It tasted delicious however I have recently found out that if you bring in your own dairy free cheese they can swap it for you which I think I will do next time.

Pizza Express

Edd had the classic American pizza which was just like a Margherita but with added Pepperoni. He said that it tasted delicious. We had Polenta Chips which tasted divine. They came served with a honey-mustard dressing which tasted delicious with the chips and the crusts from the pizzas. The chips themselves were over-baked with Gran Milano cheese.

Pizza Express

Overall the service was lovely and extremely fast. They even brought out two little chocolates with our bill which was a lovely treat.

Have you ever been to Pizza Express before?

New Blog Header!

New Blog Header

I bet you didn’t expect me to appear in your Bloglovin’ list today! Well I wanted to share a couple of blog things with you.

At last, I have a brand new blog header that I am absolutely over the moon with!

The amazing Jemma over at Dorkface is the lovely lady behind this stunning illustration! I have wanted a new header for ages. I wanted something that shows a bit more of my personality and what you can expect to find over on my little corner of the internet. We discussed the type of colours and things that I liked as well as previous designs of hers that I preferred over others.

She also offers a range of other services such as illustrations, portraits and buttons at really affordable prices. If you’re looking for a new header or something customised for you, I can’t recommend Jemma enough.

Another point that I wanted to mention is that I am creating a little spot over here for my social media, marketing and public relation posts that are normally found on Behind The Student. This is because I want The July Journal to be a space where there is a range of posts to suit everyone. It will also be nice to have everything in one place. The blend will be happening over the next couple of weeks and you can expect to see a ‘social media’ inspired post every week. I hope everyone is okay with that!

I hope you all love my new header as much as I do. Let me know what you think in the comments!

January’s Love List

This year I wanted to introduce monthly favourites. They have been something that I have loved reading on other people’s blogs last year so hopefully you will enjoy finding out what I have been loving throughout the months.

January's Love List

The first item I have been loving this month is the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philospoher’s Stone illustrated by Jim Kay. Confession: I have never read any of the Harry Potter books…until now! I loved reading the first book and can’t wait for the other illustrated editions to come out. The images are beautifully drawn as well which makes the book extra special. Although a lot of people have gone back to work this month, University students tend to have nearly another month ‘off’ (although we are meant to be revising for Winter exams) however I don’t have them which means I have had a lot of spare time to watch films and all sorts. On this list is Making A Murderer which I have obsessed over and currently waiting for Edd to catch up so we can finish it together and, of course, Pretty Little Lairs is back! Inside Out has been played on my TV numerous of times and I am so happy to finally have Paper Towns in my DVD collection.

Soon after saying goodbye to all the Christmas festivities, the Easter chocolate entered the stores. My particular favourite has been the Cadbury’s Mini Eggs. I can’t get enough of them! Although they are the most unhealthiest treat, they are amazing for snacking on while writing blog posts.

January's Love List

There hasn’t been many beauty favourites this month however a couple of things have stood out to me. The R&B Hair Moisturiser has been a firm favourite throughout the Winter months. It keeps the frizz away makes your hair smell lovely. I can definitely say that a little goes along way with this product. The one pictured has been in my stash for nearly 7 months now but is nearly running out. Another Lush product I have been loving is the Lover Lamp Bath Bomb. It smells exactly the same as Terry’s Chocolate Orange and has really started to relax me when I’m feeling stressed out. If you haven’t already tried the bath bomb, I really do urge you to try it before it gets ripped off the shelves.

Urban Decay’s Naked 3 Palette has been a re-found love this month. I have been using Burnout, Buzz and Darkside the most however all of the shades are beautiful and wearable during the day or evening. My most recent find has been the X-Ceptional Wear Foundation by GOSH. The coverage is amazing without looking to thick and it lasts all day without it looking cakey later on. I went for Chestnut which matches my skin perfectly. Although I have been wanting to try one of the Too Faced foundations, I am more than happy using this one for now.

What have you been loving this month? Anything in particular? Let me know in the comments!

January’s Lush Kitchen Round Up

If there is one thing that cheers me up during the week, it’s arriving home to a Lush Kitchen package. They are always full of surprises, right?! I’ve talked about the Kitchen service before but to summarise, Lush offer exclusive products where customers can buy a limited amount of products to try that you can’t get in stores or online regularly. It’s where Edd also managed to get my Snow Fairy perfume too, which smells AMAZING!

Lush Kitchen Products

The first product that was added into my basket was Happy For S.A.D., a shower gel that in my opinion is the best thing I have ever smelt! Sicilian mandarin, grapefruit and neroli oils make for a perfect refreshing and uplifting product to use in the shower on a cold day. The blend of organic aloe vera and dove orchids help clear the skin. The scent reminds me of a Summer holiday that I went on a couple of years ago now. After speaking to The Lush Kitchen over Twitter, I have found out that the Brightside Bubble Bar has a similar scent for those who can’t get your hands on it.

Lush Kitchen Products

Shower Smoothies has been a recent love of mine so I was rather intrigued about trying Whitewash. Similar to Happy For S.A.D., Whitewash is a beautiful blend of calming aloe vera gel, uplifting and rejuvenating Brazilian orange and mandarin oils and nourishing rapeseed and coconut oils. The scent is a soft and subtle citrus scent but still remains rather sweet. I have already used this since the product arrived and it is lovely in the shower. If you have got dry skin, something like this will help relieve it and help make your skin feel moisturised. For those of you who can’t grab a pot of Whitewash, it might be worthing trying the Dreamwash Roulade or Turkish Delight.

Have you ever brought something from the Lush Kitchen yet? If you have any of these, please let me know your thoughts.

The Lush Cosmetics Tag

I was over the moon to find out that I was tagged by the lovely Louise over at Louise Rose. I love Lush Cosmetics and if you have been a follower of my blog for a while you will probably already know that! Every part of my skincare, haircare and beauty regime will more than likely have something from Lush included in it.

The Lush Cosmetics Tag Two

What was your first…

1. Lush Bath Bomb?

This was a long time ago now but it was Dragon’s Egg. The citrus scent smelt gorgeous and I loved the gold shimmer that came out of the bath bomb when it was fizzing in the water.

2. Lush Bubble Bar?

The Comforter was my first ever bubble bar. Similar to Dragon’s Egg, I fell in love with the blackcurrant scented goodness. After using the bubble bar, I’ve never really used any bath foams ever again.

3. Lush Massage Bar?

Confession: I have never brought a massage bar before. I’ve always felt a bit lost when I’ve looked at them before. If you can recommend any then I would love to know which to go for.

4. Lush Kitchen Item?

Lush Kitchen was introduced to me by Libby from Gingerbread Buttons. I think the first Lush Kitchen product I brought was the Starcraft Cleanser. I wrote a review about it which you can read here. I’ve been using it sparingly because I love it so much but I know someday it will run out!

5. Lush Shower Gel/Cream?

I have used so many of their shower gels and creams but I think my first was Twilight. I can remember it being in the Christmas collection years ago and it smelling of liquorice. Ir’s a shame that they took it off the shelves though.

6. Lush Shower Jelly?

The only shower jelly I have tried was Sweeite Pie and as much as I love the scent, I wasn’t sure about the texture. I need to try more shower jellies though!

7. Lush Fresh Face Mask?

My first fresh face mask was Cupcake which is still a classic favourite of mine. It’s a lovely consistency and makes you skin feel super smooth. It’s brilliant for helping blemishes too.

8. Lush Bar of Soap?

My favourites soap has got to be Summer Pudding or Yog Nog. Both completely different from each other. Summer Pudding smells like eton mess and brings back all the summer memories whereas Yog Nog is a very sweet, Christmas scented soap.

The Lush Cosmetics Tag

What is your favourite…

1. Lush store?

An obvious choice is the Oxford Street store and don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love it however I can never fault the Newcastle store. I love the staff and the atmosphere in-store too.

2. Lush Bath Bomb?

My favourite bath bomb is probably Intergalactic due to the blue and sparkly formulation or Yoga for a relaxing and calming bath time treat. I think both are worth buying at least once to give them a try. Another current favourite is Lover Lamp, part of the Valentine’s range. It is a lovely chocolate orange scented treat with lots of mini hearts that come out whilst it’s fizzing.

3. Lush Bubble Bar?

Candy Mountain is wonderful for cheering you up on a down day. Karma is one of my favourites too. I love the scent and how relaxed it makes me feel.

4. Lush Massage Bar?

As mentioned earlier in the tag, I haven’t actually tried a Lush massage bar yet however it is on my list of products to try.

5. Lush Kitchen Item?

I haven’t made many Lush Kitchen orders but out of the ones I have, my favourite will probably be the Summer Pudding soap.

6. Lush Shower Gel?

Snow Fairy. Do I need to say any more?!

7. Lush Shower Jelly?

I really want to try more shower jellies including the Refresher, it sounds so lovely!

8. Lush Fresh Face Mask?

My favourite fresh face mask is probably Don’t Look At Me. I treated myself to this when I visited the Lush Oxford Street store but now it’s available in most stores. It makes my face feel really soft and moisturised. Previous to this was Cupcake which is still a classic favourite to me.

9. Lush Bar of Soap?

My favourites soap has got to be Summer Pudding or Yog Nog. Both completely different from each other. Summer Pudding smells like eton mess and brings back all the summer memories whereas Yog Nog is a very sweet, Christmas scented soap.

10. What Lush products would you like to see come back/haven’t had a chance to try yet?

Just like everyone else I would love Phoenix Rising come be brought back. I miss it so much! And Twilight Shower Gel. I can’t wait to try Guardian of the Forest. I have recently ordered it so that I can try it as I don’t have access to the Oxford Street store regularly.

I am Tagging…

Now it’s time to tag people! I’ve chosen these lovely bloggers because they love Lush just as much as I do.

Thank you for tagging me, Louise. I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s answers too. If you love Lush too then why don’t you join in too?!
