Four Little Things #008

Happy Friday! My last Four Little Things post was written back in March and to be honest with you, I miss them. They were a nice way to keep you updated with important life details and make for nice easy reading for you guys (I hope). This is why I’m back with one today.

Sunney

Sunney

1) It’s nearly that time of year again where we are all anxiously stressing about going back to University so in preparation for that I have been keeping my mind occupied by stationary buying, including Sprinkle Of Glitter’s 2016 diary. It’s always good to be organised though, right?!

2) For those new to my blog or who don’t follow me on Twitter, which you should cause I’m slightly addicted, I managed to successful get a job at The White Company. I love working there, it’s so relaxed and the girls who I work with are lovely too not to mention the 50% discount on their products!

3) My sister has come for the bank holiday weekend and I haven’t seen her in weeks. This has made me super happy because she is bringing Frank, her little sausage dog and he always brightens my day.

4) If your a long time reader of my blog then you will know that I had a lovely Border Collie called Sunney. This week I have had to put him down because he developed a tumour in his bones and ears. It has all been terribly upsetting because he was my best friend and at the moment I feel a bit lost without him and don’t really know what to do with myself. If you have your own pet then you will probably understand what I mean. For this reason, I have decided that I am going to take a week off blogging so I can concentrate on producing some good quality content for September and to get used to life without my boy. I hope that is okay with you!

How has your week been? Let me know what you have been up to this week! Are you anxious about going back to University or even starting a new chapter in your life?

Caseapp Macbook Skin

I am a sucker for a good old iPhone case. Honestly, I am addicted! However I have never been able to make my mind up about my Macbook protection. I brought a sleeve on Amazon but it’s not really my favourite pattern. It’s just one of those things that does the job. So when Julie from Raining Cake mentioned me in a tweet stating I won the Caseapp giveaway I jumped with excitement much like a little child on Christmas day. Don’t judge me please, I never win anything in my life!

I chose the Galaxy print which arrived the other day and I couldn’t wait to attach it to my laptop. The application was extremely easy, I just needed to line it up with the Apple logo sign and the edges of the laptop screen but the whole process was done within three minutes. There was no air bubbles so I didn’t have to ease them out with a card! I am really happy with my design and it does feel like I have a complete new laptop. Goodbye messy fingerprint marks!

How do you protect your Macbook? Have you got any nice cases?

Lush Collective Haul

I don’t think a week can go by without spreading a little bit of Lush love! Is that bad? I treated myself to a lot of different bits and bobs from their new stock this month which you can read about here however I also brought some of my old favourites too that I wanted to share with you.

August Lush Collective Haul

Dream Cream is a much loved product over on The July Journal. I have actually written a full in depth review that you can read here but it has been a little hidden gem that has helped with my eczema and dry skin. The formulation is cooling, moisturising and nourishing for the skin which is brilliant if you find yourself needing to scratch your eczema often. This brings me onto the next product which is Ceridwen’s Cauldron. A luxury bath melt with oatmilk, cocoa butter, rose absolute and sandalwood that help dry and sensitive skin feel a bit more loved. I have been told you drop the muslin pouch into the bath water which releases the creamy oatmilk. You can then use the muslin cloth to help wash your sensitive skin. I haven’t seen this product talked about much so if you would like a review, please let me know.

The Blackberry Bath Bomb has recently been my favourite. Bergamot is used in aromatherapy to help anxiety, depression and nervous tension. If you have read any of my other posts, you will also know the scent is quite relaxing and uplifting. The formulation of the bath bomb also includes frankincense oil to slow down the breathing and induces a feeling of wellbeing. Fun fact for you; Blackberry was apparently the first bath bomb that Lush created! I was gifted the Comforter Bubble Bar* and Think Pink* by my friend, Peter. He has just started a vegan food blog and enjoys talking about games and films so please check him out, his blog is The Gamer In The Kitchen. The Comforter is definitely one of my favourites with the oh so famous blackcurrant Ribena scent and Think Pink is always a nice little treat when your needing a pick me up.

Have you picked up anything nice from Lush recently?

The Sunday Post: Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Edinburgh Fringe Festival

This week I decided to take a trip to Edinburgh to visit the Fringe Festival with my auntie and cousin. I have always liked Edinburgh but very rarely get a chance to go myself. It was just over an hour away on the train which meant we had a lot of time to explore the city and more importantly get a feel for the festival. For those of you who don’t know the Fringe Festival is “the largest arts festival in the world” which takes place over the month of August. The festival welcomes many performers from theatre, comedy, dance, circus, musicals, cabaret, music, opera, exhibitions and events so there will be something suited to everyone.

It was the first time attending the Fringe Festival and to tell you the truth it was a bit overwhelming. There was a lot of street acts across Edinburgh which I thoroughly enjoyed watching even if it was raining heavily. A lot of the performances were around the same time as each other so we decided to see Pippa Evans who was amazingly funny! I couldn’t stop laughing for the whole hour because she was so good. Her impressions were amazing and there was even a bit of music to go along with it.

While we were there, we took a look at Edinburgh Castle and St Giles’ Cathedral that were both breathtaking.

Before we headed back off for the train, we watched a series of sketches from University students which was surprisingly good. Overall it was a really lovely day but next year I would love to spend the weekend there to research more into the shows and see a few more in the time I have there. If you are thinking of going to one of the shows then I highly recommend it!

My Current Makeup Favourites

I don’t think I have ever done this kind of post before. If you have been a long time reader of my blog then you will know that I struggle with confidence and self-esteem but after over a year of blogging I thought that it’s about time I show my face on this little corner of the net and share with you my current favourite makeup pieces.

I am always the one who gets stuck into a little routine of using the same products over and over again. Once I get bored, I’ll switch it up. Perhaps change the lipstick, the blush, the way I do my eyeshadow. Anyway I’ve really been enjoying the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette recently and wanted to share my current makeup look with you. I feel like it looks really fresh and perfect for Summer too!

For the base, I have been using The Body Shop’s Extra Minerals Foundation and their All In One Concealer. I like how both products can easily be built up to your required coverage whilst still feeling lightweight on the skin. I feel like both products used give such a flawless look to my skin which is something I look for in the Summer. The concealer is brilliant for using on it’s own if you don’t want to do a full face of makeup as it hides dark circles and covers up those pesky blemishes. I have been using the bronzer and blush from the Naked On The Run Palette which give my cheeks the perfect glow. The bronzer is matte so can easily be used in the colder months without looking too Summery whilst the blush is a lovely vibrant pink with a slight shimmer. I have used The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in Shade 3 to keep everything in place. Using this has made my makeup last so much longer throughout the day which means I don’t need to reapply any of my base makeup if I am going out for dinner later on during the day.

As previously mentioned, I have been enjoying the Naked 3 Palette as I have found a lot of shades to be suitable for Summer. They give the eyes a natural pinky toned look without looking too over the top for work or daytime wear. The shades I have been enjoying are: Dust, Burnout, Limit, Buzz and Liar. For lining my eyes I have been switching between Darkside and Blackheart that are also in the Naked 3 Palette or The Body Shop’s Carbon Eye Definer if I am creating a smokey eye look. I have finished the eyes with Rimmel’s Wonder’full Mascara and the Lash Accelerator Mascara as they make the perfect pair for longer and more volumed lashes. Unfortunately these aren’t cruelty free so if you have any suggestions similar to these then please let me know!

Finally I have been using Charlotte Tilbury’s Bond Girl on my lips. It’s the perfect shade for any occasion. It doesn’t dry your lips out and is really moisturising when you apply it. The lasting power is amazing and I would love to pick up some more shades in the future. I hope you have enjoyed this little makeup favourites post. I would love to know what you have been loving recently!
